I can’t believe baldurs gate 3 came out and is good lol. I have attained a new phase of my gaming persona - I will buy games I heard of and that’s about it cuz there’s too loving many Amazing how I went from covid times “wow let me try all 5 new games on gamepass” to “I will buy this goty level game later, cuz I’m still playing Zelda and ff16”

I was fuckin around in BG3 and found a mouthy goblin in a cage and freed her since.my.Gnomw is technically a goblin. The whole squad should get their own goblins too. 4 goblins would enhance any party

This morning in Baldur's Gate 3 I spoke with a remarkably intelligent ogre who said he would help me kill some goblins if I paid him 1,000 gold for the privilege of summoning his crew to the fight. Well what I actually did was aggro the entire goblin camp onto them so that they all killed one another, then swooped in and promptly pocketed all the winnings myself. Never cheat a cheater!

It's kinda weird that this console generation was completely pointless. They could've just kept chugging along with the PS4 and Xbox One and things would've been exactly the same.

If Sony hadn't made a current-gen console then they would not have a console that could play the numerous current-gen-only games. Don't mistake the lack of true exclusives for a redundant generation.

There are a number of games on both current and last gen whose last gen versions feel compromised at best. Cyberpunk is the obvious and most glaring example but heck there's a fair number of games where the last gen version runs significantly worse with real long load times.

I think part of it is that 2020 was the absolute worst time to release two new consoles, between the semiconductor shortage and COVID disrupting the supply chain, getting a PS5 felt like a gamble for like a year and a half, and it feels like a lot of people just gave up on the idea of being able to get one, even though we're at a point now where you can just walk into a store and buy one. The Xbox series also kinda has its own issues with the dwindling relevance of the Xbox as a console ecosystem, partly due to the still lingering effects of the Xbox One's disastrous launch and partly due to MS's own (in a way consumer friendly) practices of simultaneous PC releases and Game Pass.

I'm sure some games coming out today could run on the PS3 if devs really wanted to support it. There's nothing magical about console generations, but now that backwards compatibility and cross-generation is standard, it seems like people are mistaking the lack of a brick wall between generations for the new hardware being redundant. It's like getting a new computer. Most games are not going to be designed specifically so that only my new computer can run it. I don't get mad that my old computer could have run the same games at a lower framerate, lower resolution, or with less fancy graphical features. I upgraded specifically so that I didn't have to play them that way. It's like saying "GeForce 3000 series didn't need to exist. Most games coming out today can still technically run on 900 series".

In my somewhat limited experience actual kids were somewhat excited for the PS5. I got one for my cousin a year or so ago for Christmas and he was showing off to all his friends on discord and stuff. It’s probably just an old person thing
