Yeah, it was formerly known as Danmaku Gensou, then when they got in a lot of hot water Klabs pulled the product only to re-announce it with a slightly changed coat of paint months later as arcadia records. I'm a little surprised that they didn't incur any sort of wrath from ZUN or his legal man given they were doing some blatantly shady poo poo even after rebranding https://twitter.com/richard_effendi/status/1552371405395984384 (see this thread)

I like Touhou, but I'm not super into it? I was goign to get super into it and start playing the games a few years back, but UNFORTUNATE INCIDENTS (With bad Touhou fans who tried to ruin my TTRPG by giving people who made male characters and Original Characters poo poo and being insufferable about it and Touhou and how men are eww) turned me off of it. Where's a good place to get into the touhou games? I heard that 6 was the first windows one, but that maybe 14 was a good one for beginners?

7, 8, and 14 are probably the best ones to start with. 12 is also one that is a very clean shmup formula but tends towards harder.

I highly recommend 18 - Unconnected Marketeers, it's what got me to come back after having to put playing the games down for a while. I find the patterns fairly understandable but more important I just really like the card system in this game. There's a lot of really useful cards that helps with survival & learning the patterns, and its fun to see what stuff works and what doesnt. It also helps that you unlock a card slot for beating the game even with a continue and even if you fail a run any cards you bought can go in the library to equip and start out. Lots of fun combinations all around. It made it fun to just jump right back into a run. I never did do the Normal 1CC, just didn't have the juice for it, but it always felt like I could get it. Meanwhile I enjoyed Easy enough to 1CC it with everyone twice to get the secret endings and a few of the achievements. 13, Ten Desires, is the one technically made for beginners. It's got really easy patterns (even Lunatic is, iirc, probably more on the level of like Hard on other games) and a super system that makes you invincible and all that jazz, but I despise the resource system. It's really punishing and never feels good to properly use; i guess the idea was the easy game doesn't need a lot of resources but it just feels bad. I also don't care for a lot of Miko's spells, they're very hard on the eyes and is part of why I had to walk away from the game. YMMV

It's leagues easier to make work than PoFV's, but it's not very good netcode, no. I'm not at all surprised since apparently ZUN just made it in a couple of weeks himself (and took 5 days off to play the new Zelda.)
