I have never heard of the phrase "assembled in Myanmar" in any product. Like is there any shipping infrastructure in Myanmar? They are still using the meter gauge rail. This is the biggest alarm out of the whole console.

Anyone know how to get the ZX Spectrum emulator working in Garlic OS? I got C64 games working fine once I realised it could only open .t64 (tape) files as disk files made it hang up, but Spectrum files either immediately crash and reset or just sit there unresponsive. There's supposedly a selectable keyboard overlay like the one for the C64, but nothing I do will bring it up, even after going into the core settings.

Long shot, but you might need to dig through a fullset and try multiple filetypes and alternate dumps until something clicks. My 280v has a few .z80's, a few .tzx's, and even a couple .tap's because I could not find ANY consistency in what worked. Spectrum dumps are fuckin weird, I swear they're more of a standalone savestate than a ROM.

I am interested in a small device to throw in my waist pack for when I'm taking public transit. So major requirement is the small size but also a great screen. Power isn't too important since I'll basically just load a couple of games and nothing past like GBA. Would that still just be a Miyoo Mini Plus?

Hmm, what have we here?
Now that I’m on the RP2S train I think I’m gonna clean house a little. I have:

RG351V
RG353V
RP2
RP3+
MM+

Thinking of just unloading all of them for like 200 bucks to someone that wants a collection. The MM+ is just barely too small for my long fingers but I really wish I liked it more. It’s such a cool handheld..

Honestly the RP2 has always been my favorite to hold, followed closely by the 3+. The 2S can’t get here fast enough.

I loved it. The D pad is the best of all my devices and it feels good to hold. I just never touch anything higher than like PS1 or Dreamcast on these so having black bars on literally everything felt like a waste. Anything widescreen just goes on my Steamdeck.

I’ll let you know if I do decide to sell them individually.

Valve are now selling officially refurbished Steam Decks. £280 for the 64gb model is a ridiculous value just as an emulation device.

It’s really hard to beat the deck at that price point. It’s absolutely worth that.

Yeah the Deck rules for sure. All they need to do as the years go on is make incremental improvements to the screen and chipset but for a first version they really nailed it.

All they need to do is make a portable Deck.

I’ve said it a gorillian times but if they did make it roughly the size of a switch I’d sell all of my portable consoles and be good to go.

It's not that much bigger than my switch with the Hori Split Pad Pro sides, but it's significantly heavier.

I love my deck, but some of the smaller devices are definitely more portable.

Yeah, I'm really liking the pocketability of the MM+ and have been using it for PS1 and below a fair amount, whereas anything actually demanding goes on the Deck. It's wild to me that I can emulate Wii U games on a portable device and the Deck is like "I'm not even using 50% of my power!"

I took my MM+ to the Ninja Turtles movie this past Saturday and played the original TMNT arcade game while waiting for the movie to start. WOO.
Edit: That popped into my head because of the teeny tiny pocketability of it. That's how it connects.

One thing though is that the MM+'s battery life doesn't seem too great (it charges in no time flat off my phone charger though), and I was wondering if maybe there was an aftermarket replacement with better battery life?

I’m pretty impressed with the battery life tbqh, I get more time out of it than my 351v but I still havent replaced the loving bullshit stock battery on that.

How much time are you getting off a charge on yours? I haven't really run a timer on mine but it doesn't seem to last more than two hours or so on a charge. It hasn't been a huge issue so far, especially since it's also the fastest of my devices to charge, but I wouldn't mind getting more battery life out of it.

The history lesson is what's interesting. It's been a long road getting from running NES and GB emulators on GBA flashcarts to where we are now, and we absolutely would not be here without the original Odroid Go Advance and its open source hardware leading to a proliferation of powerful and popular clones, most notably among them the Anbernic 351p.

It's a shame that Linux is going out the window as a platform. Android is great for its compatibility, networking etc, but there's a charm to having these things run on a lightweight self contained OS. At least on my phones, Android always seems to run a little laggy in terms of input, are these handhelds better about that? It's probably just a consequence of using Bluetooth controllers on my end.

Does anyone have any display stands they would recommend?
I want to put my MM+, RG552, 351 etc on a shelf together, ideally with other handhelds like my gameboy micro, etc
Handheld Legend has display stands per console but they're like $12 each + shipping. Wondering if there's a cheaper option that doesn't look like rear end.
