Whoever said Elon is just speedrunning Lowtax was so right. Dude is getting neck and back MRI and claims he needs surgery. So the inevitable should happen in a week or two.

We’re at the beach this week and I rented a bike from a local company on the island. It’s an immediate QOL improvement because I don’t have to deal with any of the dumb car traffic and it’s fun as hell bombing around on this 40 lb behemoth

My knees hate running so I never use the tread. I might've bought a rower but this Assault Fitness Classic was practically brand new for $250.

You can get mangosteen juice at some Asian markets in the canned drink isle and it's also pretty good. This is the brand I usually get for both tamarind and mangosteen stuff. We had a storm nearby last week that hit a rec area and basically knocked over every camper out there, tipped over boats, and even flattened some 40x80 storage buildings. Weather service said winds hit 95mph. Totally normal stuff!

We were camping two weekends ago with friends and got hit with a pretty gnarly storm and the couple who set up next to us decided to go to a bar nearby and never closed their tent flap in their rush to leave. We got woken up later that night when they got back and started arguing about who didn’t close the tent when they found all of their poo poo totally soaked

The train will stop once it's told to due to severe weather. Hopefully that will be at a station so you can at least get out for a bit. Bear in mind, the Auto Train can only load and unload cars at the terminals, no stations on the route have the facilities for that. I found that out when during COVID a guy got removed from the train in Jacksonville for not wearing a mask, but his car continued all the way to Virginia without him.

At wodapalooza on a stage. It crippled me. Could barely complete the rest of the event. I’ve seen someone do it in like 49 seconds once and they nearly died. Trick is to ramp for thirty so that you’re sprinting by the end and just hold on. It’s not worth attempting. Way worse than a sub 7 minute 2k row. Like….by leaps and bounds. This is 50 in 39 seconds from a big dude. He doesn’t even look that tired. probably dry heaved shortly after. Mute it so you don’t have to listen to blindsite screaming in the background. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvxI-WNE0zM

I love trains as much as the next guy, even if our passenger rail is sad, but what’s the reasoning of putting your car on a train instead of driving? Taking advantage of that window where rail is superior for distance traveled per hour than car and plane? I’m sure there was a good reason, just missed it!

Yeah the Eastern seaboard is simultaneously the best section of rail in the U.S. and also one of the most rage-inducing drives, so taking the Auto Train makes a ton of sense imo

Pontius Pilate posted:Took it she flew though? Riding on the same train that your car is on is what’s tripping me up Its overnight, so I get to sleep on the train while we are driving. It was 3 hours to Orlando, then train overnight to Virginia. Once we get in, it's a 4 hour drive to our new place. Also, it was only $550 for two people and the car. Its not much more than gas and you dont have the stress of driving on some of the worst highways in the country. Factor in a hotel to break up the driving over two days and its a wash financially. Plus, we are moving and our car is loaded to the brim with stuff to the point my wife is carrying stuff on her lap while I drive. Honestly, I don't know why people don't donthe autotrain more given the stress and general annoyance of driving. I am just sitting here watching stuff on my Kindle and relaxing and even can shitpost the whole train trip. Edit: I type this and of loving course the bridge on the St Johns has a signal issue which will take an hour or two to fix, but shouldn't impact our overall travel time unless its really hosed... swickles fucked around with this message at 00:18 on Aug 8, 2023 |
