I made pumpkin soup, and roast beef and vegetables for my mother's birthday dinner on Saturday. Trusted the recommended cooking time for the beef and it ended up well done rather than medium, but not dry or tough so it was ok. Forgot to take any photos till after dinner.  I'd forgotten until recently how good roast parsnips are, and I've been including turnips, beetroots and chokos lately as well and they're all very good roasted. I also threw a beetroot into the pumpkin soup again.

I made this "seafood rice skillet" except I discovered too late that I'd run out of turmeric so I substituted cardamom and szechuan pepper and left out the chilli powder because the other person I was cooking for doesn't like it, and also I forgot to get lemon and parsley from the shops, and I had a pack of peas and corn instead of just peas so there was corn in it too. It was very good though.
