Our war against free speech cannot end until we silence this bronze beast!

I played it for the first time recently and was impressed with SH2s story still holding up.
It's got a good psychological plot with a twist or two that I hadn't absorbed by osmosis.
The music is also very good.

Cons:
The voice acting is very, very bad.
The actual gameplay is terrible old school adventure game nonsense where you find a key to find a key to find a key.
It has that old school way of trying to squeeze perceived value out by wasting your time searching rooms and certain key items only show up in random places after invisible triggers.
Everyone knows the combat is bad but the enemies are just harmless set dressing so it really is just like King's Quest but with a monster stumbling around making spooky noises nearby.

I can see why it's a classic but also why a lot of the og fanbase never played REAL games. Theyr accursed adventure gamers

The SH3 hard puzzles are completely insane. SH2 even has a secret puzzle difficulty that only unlocks after you've beaten easy, medium, and hard puzzle difficulty. It's also insane but has some very pretty writing in it.

I didn't realize you could kill monsters in sh 2 so I kept just beating them down with my plank then loony tuning it away from them

One of the numbers is the final key

Hard posted:

Pure eyes, blue like a glassy bead —
You are always looking at me
and I am always looking at you.
Ah, you're too meek —
beautiful, unspoiled:
thus I'm so sad, I suffer —
and so happy, it hurts.
I want to hurt you
and destroy myself
What you would think
if you knew how I felt.
Would you simply smile,
not saying a word?
Even curses from your mouth
would be as beautiful as pearls.
I place my left hand on your
face as though we were to kiss.
Then I suddenly shove my thumb
deep into your eyesocket.
Abruptly, decisively,
like drilling a hole.
And what would it feel like?
Like jelly?
Trembling with ecstasy, I obscenely
mix it around and around: I must
taste the warmth of your blood.
How would you scream?
Would you shriek "It hurts!
It hurts!" as cinnabar-red tears
stream from your crushed eye?
You can't know the maddening
hunger I've felt in the midst of
our kisses, so many of them
I've lost count.
As though drinking in your cries,
I bring my hopes to fruition:
biting your tongue, shredding it,
biting at your lips as if tasting
your lipstick.
Oh, what euphoric heights I would
reach, having my desires fulfilled
like a greedy, gluttonous cur.
I longed, too, for your cherry-tinted
cheeks, tasty enough to bewitch my
tongue.
I would surely be healed,
and would cry like a child.
And how is your tender ear?
It brushes against my cheek;
I want it to creep up to my lips so
I can sink my teeth into its flesh.
Your left ear, always hearing words
whispered sweet as pie —
I want it to hear my true feelings.
I never lied, no...
but I did have my secrets.
Ah, but what must you think of me?
Do you hate me? Are you afraid?
As though inviting you to the agony
at the play's end, if you wish, you
could destroy me — I wouldn't care.
As you wish, you may destroy me
— I wouldn't care.

I stupidly sold my PS2 copies of 2-4 before the HD bundle came out because I assumed it would be competent lol. Ended up repurchasing them along with a PS2 at a huge markup several years ago. At least 4 has a good GOG port.

not used to the awesome dndisms in bg3 like, an aoe that disarms you and makes your entire party run for two rounds, as just a thing someone can do instantly after dashing all the way across the map into a teleport into a spell

With Silent Hill I'd always go for Hard Puzzles and Normal Action.

I did actually get the Shakespeare puzzle cause I'm a nerd.

At least the AI doesn't pick up your weapon after disarming you. At least they haven't done that yet from what I've seen.

I'll say this about the big villain reveal in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, it was obvious from the very start but that was actually a really fun fight.

I'd say my main complaint regarding the battles is that speed is apparently the only thing that matters, and it's calculated in an odd way where you've got a turn order cheat sheet thing but it's usually wrong, and defeating a pokemon is often a death sentence for your own as the one that replaces it is going to get 2-3 free attacks.
