This isn't entirely true. There are very clearly two classes of Eastern European migrants: highly educated ones, working in areas that require bachelors/master's degrees (architecture, computer touching, various other office jobs, but weirdly mostly architecture & computers. idk). These ones are obviously doing much better economically, and are at least vaguely integrated into society (even though they're looked down on a bit because eastern european + they probably don't speak Dutch). They are probably underpaid and exploited a bit more in the workplace than their Dutch counterparts, though. They are very distinct from the other Eastern European underclass people working in greenhouses/construction etc (and they look down on those guys as undereducated too lol).

The news of firing the recruiters might be a way to pre-empt this but you know its going to still happen. Putting azovites in charge of recruiting means 95% of the people get sent to the front lines and only the top %5 can afford the kickbacks for logistics duty.

e: the reason for the desertion/draft evasion is that clearly the word is out in Ukrainian civil society about what casualties are like. There will also be more passive collaboration by the civilian population in helping their sons/husbands/brothers hide in the woods or stay out of sight of the press gangs. The criminalization and harsh measures are an attempt those informal networks, but the bottom line is that people would not be paying off recruiters en masse if there was popular enthusiasm for a war the public believes is going well.

ee: Related to the above, the amount of Canadian volunteers in Ukraine is estimated to have shrunk from 500-something to maybe a few dozen. That should have been a canary in the coal mine because the foreigners are exempt from Ukrainian state methods of control - their quitting the war probably indicates Ukrainians would do the same if they could.

Admittedly, if recruiters start nabbing "protected" people I could see a pretty significant backlash developing, and it probably means the numbers of volunteers is dropping pretty rapidly as well.

The World Heritage Committee, holding its 44th session in Fuzhou and online, decided to delete the property “Liverpool – Maritime Mercantile City” (UK) from the World Heritage List, due to the irreversible loss of attributes conveying the outstanding universal value of the property.

Liverpool – Maritime Mercantile City was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2004 and on the List of World Heritage in Danger in 2012 following concerns about the proposed development of Liverpool Waters. The project has since gone ahead along with other developments both inside the site and in its buffer zone. The Committee considers that these constructions are detrimental to the site’s authenticity and integrity.

Liverpool’s historic centre and docklands were inscribed for bearing witness to the development of one of the world’s major trading centres in the 18th and 19th centuries. The site also illustrated pioneering developments in modern dock technology, transport systems and port management.

Any deletion from the World Heritage List is a loss to the international community and to the internationally shared values and commitments under the World Heritage Convention.

After the Elbe Valley in Dresden (Germany) and the Arabian Oryx Sanctuary (Oman), Liverpool is the third property to lose its World Heritage status.
