We get a few stragglers every now and again that are left behind after everyone else left, but that just means I get to release them later that day

I’ve seen one on the South Carolina southern barrier islands, where there are usually a couple hundred nests being monitored regularly by good people such as yourself. They dug one up right in front of our rental that was ‘late.’ Most of the eggs had died, but they dug out a few survivors and pointed them towards the sea. Apparently there weren’t enough viable to get a good boil going. I have photos of tracks. We were down there one year in May; I set up my Nikon on a tripod after sunset and waited under my red light. Took 100-photos of a log down-beach I thought was a momma. Can’t go down & check…
