I read regarding North Korea that the geography of the country itself is the main factor preventing it from being able to grow all the food it needs and regardless of the system of government it would still be a net importer

at no point during the history of these two countries does it make sense to get rid of the kims if your goal is to improve the standard of living of the north korean people because if your presumption is that reunification was the main way to accomplish this goal theyre the main force on the peninsula thats been pushing for reunification and if your presumption is that someone else would be less antiamerican all the other major forces in north korean politics are significantly more antiamerican than the kims are because the countrys antiamerican culture stems from our double decimating their population in the korean war for no strategic benefit and attempting to starve the country to death in the nineties for no strategic benefit the kims arent just arbitrarily brainwashing people into hating america for the hell of it and those of you familiar with the dates being discussed may have noticed that huh weird how the eighties rapprochement happens a full generation after the korean war happened and before we did the whole trying to starve them to death thing almost as if their foreign policy culture is a materialistically based reaction to the current political stance of the united states in regard to north korea

id also like to note as a final note that the only major north korean political figure who we have ever tried to elevate due to the alleged belief that he would do more to improve the lives of the north korean people is kim jong nam whose only qualification for being involved in these discussions at all was his being a part of the familial dynasty and who instead of doing literally anything to build his political reputation or credibility overseas just became an obsessed disney fanboy and managed to get himself killed by playacting at being a spy for the cia

Getting rid of the Kims would also not get rid of the Korean Workers Party or change anything about how the DPRK actually works.

I think it's falling flat here, at least compared to how fired up everyone was about Muslims/Arabs during the first decade of the GWOT. I think the Canadian public even seemed more concerned about the dastardly Serbians, when that was going on.

The capabilities in this package, valued at up to $200 million, include:

Additional munitions for Patriot air defense systems;

Additional ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS);

Mine clearing equipment and systems;

155mm and 105mm artillery rounds;

120mm tank ammunition;

Tube-Launched, Optically-Tracked, Wire-Guided (TOW) missiles;

Javelin and other anti-armor systems and rockets;

37 tactical vehicles to tow and haul equipment;

58 water trailers;

Over 12 million rounds of small arms ammunition and grenades;

Demolitions munitions for obstacle clearing; and

Spare parts, maintenance, and other field equipment.

This security assistance package will utilize assistance previously authorized under Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) for Ukraine that remained after the PDA revaluation process concluded in June.

The United States will continue to work with its Allies and partners to provide Ukraine with capabilities to meet its immediate battlefield needs and longer-term security assistance requirements.
