Yea. The name of the game has always been hoarding (as in, don't use up all of your watermelons for temple unless you want to need to grow a ton more on a whim)... but the whole setup with needing to grow melons to get a 10% chance to get a yellow melon to turn in to temple is a recipe for burnout. I think they realize this and will be cutting back on these types of temple quests in the future. Back-to-back Hot Potato to Yellow Watermelon has been brutal for a lot of people.

Good enough.
It would be a good time to introduce an auto-plant/harvest meal.

I really hope they do realize it. I wouldn’t mind those sorts of events if they just made it something you could fish or find in a zone to do the temple quest, but needing to babysit a 5 min potato for weeks is just bad. It’s the waiting time that really got to me.

Yeah I immediately ignored yellow watermelons because I had cabbages to grow, but now I guess I want 5,000 watermelons anyway. Definitely don't care about growing enough for the temple - that mechanic sucked when it was introduced and it sucks even harder when used for time-limited secondary products that have to be actively managed.

When in doubt, err on the side of Awesome!

If September is just another grind fest temple chainI and a handful of bullshit quests I think I'm going to call it quits. The current STARMAP quest sucks.

Yeah I’m on part 3 and I’ve just parked it for now. I can’t be arsed with it at the moment.

i'm not here

this isn't happening
Every once in a while I check the first star map quest and see that it wants 1000 spiked shells, then I click on spiked shell and see that there are 6 quests remaining for it and I close the game.

Please don’t talk to me about the crab claw requirements.

Also, are gold boots fishable using meal worms, or do you have to use one of the other ordinary baits?

You can use mealworms.

You can get gold items with Mealworms, you just can't Net them. Buddyfarm says it's about 3,000 bait per boot.

Just did the math on my pies. If I sold all of them today, so no event or item of the day but with shrimp a plenty, I would make 101bn. It's so many things made for seemingly so little silver.

Getting a bigger mailbox is pretty much the number 1 on important things to do in this game, as goons love to shove poo poo in it.

And look up sawmill silver to get you started on some monies.

The only thing you can safely sell is regular fish and it's very annoying. Quantities don't make sense, just save everything until you're voiding the rest.

My favorite one this month is you need 50x White Parchment to make Toilet Paper, but you need 1x White Parchment and 1x Purple/Green/Leather to make an entire diary. The Milk Carton recipe makes a bit more sense at least.

are there any specific perks I should target starting out

Kaboobi

SHAKE IT BABY!

negotiator, resource saver, quicker farming, double prizes, and wanderer to start for the skill point ones
once you have an orchard, the forester ones are key

the equivalents for gold perks, forklift 1+2 once you have the storehouse, as well as reinforced netting and sprint shoes
you're also going to want a lot of the QOL stuff like like the auto petting/sending/yes I'm sure/iron depot once you reach that point too

the extra wish and grape juice ones are also super handy

expand your mailbox a bunch and goons will keep cramming oj and stuff into it

Starting to Actually Realise Magic Ain't Pretty is such a laborious quest some of the steps are too large to display in full on the quest tracker.
