I remember playing sh4 some time in the oughts but not getting hooked by it. The story did not seem as compelling. I may have been oversaturated with hills silent at that point, though, should probably give it another go at some point

Oh, ok, you can quit the dice roll screen, but it's just not very noticeable in the top right corner, and if you press escape it just brings up the game menu.

Yeah, the way they give character different move sets is kind of neat. Is FF16 doing something similar? Cloud later gets a more powerful gauge eating counter attack that's an absolute blender. And you can chain Tifa's basic uppercut with the first drop kick move to do a lot of work. I'm sure there's a lot more neat stuff you could do, but you really don't have to unless you go to hard mode I guess.

one of my first times playing ff14 back in 2017/18 i got invited to some random guild or whatever they call it, sometime later i went to the guild house to using crafting stations to help me craft and i zoned into a bunch of cat people and little people in underwear emoting in chat alot and i just NOPED out of the game. Didn't play until years later you cant trick me into Second Life

It's fine, you would have rolled that anyway for your caster. That way it frees up your points for constitution, so your early levels of playing a wizard isn't the most miserable experience possible.
