Did I miss vampire chat or can I talk about LIFEFORCE? It's about astronauts finding a spaceship in Halley's Comet and finding a big booby naked lady aboard and big booby naked lady turns out to be an energy vampire and turns people into awesome shriveled screaming zombies and Patrick Stewart is in it but he gets really messed up on drugs and the male protagonist makes out with him and he barfs up a vampire. The movie kind of goes off the rails after that but it was pretty good 8/10 would watch again.

I think Frank Zappa once made an observation that in the music industry, execs used to be some old rich dudes who had no idea what people wanted to hear, knew their limits, and just signed the craziest out there musicians in hopes one of them will succeed. A lot of modern music industry higher-ups, on the other hand, think they are hip and with it, and on the mission to shape public taste, so they let their own taste dictate whom to to sign. He said it ages ago, but it's definitely still true for movies. There are more good movies in general made now than 30 or 40 years ago, mind, but it's harder to make a big studio movie that's really out there. Well, it's harder to make any film now due to strikes, but you know what I mean.

There's a lot of easily accessible good movies today if you ignore the blockbusters. Probably more than ever, given that it's easier to make and distribute a movie than it used to be. The same goes for music.
