Isn't this basically a trope in Russian history?

The moon is a bit weird - it's very lumpy, with what NASA calls mascons [mass concentrations] left over from big asteroid impacts. They nudge orbiting craft around, so most lunar orbits are unstable. There are a handful of orbital inclinations that are reasonably stable, but most will decay and crash into the moon quite quickly.

Are you telling me forces concentrations are destabilizing russian efforts to invade the moon?

Someone would probably have to pay him enough money to retire before he reviews a can of Homeopathic Beef Stew. Also his handle is Steve1989MREInfo for the record.

I've been looking for an interview I saw, that was from just after Russia invaded Ukraine.
It was on Dozhd, and it was with Dmitry Muratov. The main thing I remember was the interviewer asking him what he thought the future held for Russia, and he said something like "there is no future", and the interviewer looked like she was on the brink of tears :(
Anyone else see it?

Maybe Poot-Poot should have taken some of the rockets he has been firing at civilians and put those on the lunar lander to slow it down.

No, because the problem was that it slowed down too much.

(They were supposed to do a perilune reducing burn, the accidentally burned 50% longer than they were supposed, resulting in a trajectory that intersected the surface of the moon. Then they didn't realize anything was wrong before it crashed, meaning even if they had sufficient fuel remaining to do a less efficient landing burn, it wouldn't have mattered.)

I wonder if they'll get the AIM-120D that allegedly has a range of around 160km. Could be a real nasty surprise for Russian pilots if those just show up in theater one day.

That's late (coming mid-ish next year I believe) but at least its a pretty good number.

If they're given fairly modern western munitions in large quantity with the planes that really could be a big deal.
