This post finally tricked me into listening to that song and holy poo poo it's not good. I agree this probably isn't astroturfed though, plenty of lovely songs go viral all the time. If anything I'd attribute it to the very first fringes of late 2000s/early 2010s americana and folk music starting to roll back around as nostalgia. Anyway Drive by Truckers did this song better 20 years ago and there are a ton of good country songs about working class angst and political alienation already out there.

It really was something, the chances of Will having to help clean up a lot of vomit were quickly approaching 100% and he knew it

Matt must have a champion-level alcohol tolerance because what he drank would’ve easily killed me three times over, I don’t know how that night didn’t end with a trip to the ER

I've seen chapo live twice, and the first time Matt had to cede his bit to another guest because he was too incoherent to read a script.

Second time, he was fading by the second half but muddled it through. Don't think he's made it through a live show anywhere near coherent.

As a Virginian, I have no loving clue what he means by the title "Rich Men North of Richmond." Rich yuppie scum from NoVa are a known thing, but they're all north of, like, Fredericksburg. And the richest counties that aren't clustered around DC are all near Hampton.

I like modern arena country and it is most certainly is not arena country. If you think the Richmond song sounds anything like Luke Combs or Morgan Wallen then you need to get your ears checked.
