So Hilary was just overhyped and wound up being a total bust after all. Whatever happened to that hurricane that was supposed to hit California anyways?

Los Angeles: mostly 7mph winds, a couple hours of 20mph winds a decent amount of rain, but not even the most we’ve even seen in 2023 a 5.5 earthquake

There's a Fire Warning for Houston today. I can't remember this happening before. Houston is a swamp, it's supposed to be too damp to burn.

IDK what exactly the humidity was but it was high. I think the actual heat index was like 110-112. I went outside and didn't die but it sucked. It's going to be hotter today.

Had someone in Texas explainin that their electric company turned off their AC for several hours yesterday because they checked the box about allowing the power Co to adjust your thermostat for energy demands. Capitalism.

I think Texas (ERCOT specifically) is the only one like that

They probably got the thermostat for free by allowing that.

Generally that’s demand response as an opt in program and in most cases you get paid a bit to do it but the payment is pretty drat pathetic. there’s a whole DR market in PJM (covers from Jersey through Indiana) with GWs of manufacturing and other C&I customers who get paid a ton to shut off demand. Getting real customers to do it is the holy grail but getting resi customers to change behavior is super hard when it comes to electricity use.
