the company is databricks, the work is described:

We work for an international app marketing company Databricks that has an optical algorithm system that helps generate data and traffic to improve AppStore rankings. Therefore real users are needed to perform optimization tasks, which cannot be done by AI means, so we can get paid for completing them.

The company will provide a work platform URL, we complete our work through this platform every day, the platform has an ASO system to assist us to complete our work.

Basically we help the applications that work with the company to optimize their applications. Simply put, we are acting as users to upload data and traffic on the workbench provided by the company. Therefore, we need to register as a user to get started and there are training sessions to learn its details.

Not trying to claim it's legit, just might help to highlight what kind of scam they might be running. I am going to go back to the recruiter with this info, because I wasted a lot of time on this today - the recruiter is legit, she has gotten me real work IRL.

Hello bitcoin thread, I'm here once again to ask my perennial question:

Has any legitimate use of blockchain technology developed, yet?

I just want to know if blockchain has literally any application other than scamming people.

There's a bunch of largely theoretical applications like smart contracts, distributed ledgers and some banking stuff but nothing that has been widely commercialised as far as I have heard, and certainly nothing approaching the lofty predictions of blockchain being the technology that changes the world.

So just scams at this point.

I occasionally get reminded that the capstone subject in my CPA had an entire chapter dedicated to blockchain. Pages talking about how cool and wonderful it would be, and how all the savvy and successful businesses were investing in it's various applications. Years later I sincerely hope the authors are embarrassed to have been involved in that poo poo.

In a strictly technical sense, yes. It can do pretty much anything a centralized database can do.

It just does it very poorly and introduces a ton of problems that just don't pop up with normal databases, such as being able to alter or delete records.

There doesn't ever seem to be a use case where a blockchain is the only, or even the better choice.

The problem with "smart contracts" is that they should instead be called "dumb contracts." They're just setting a switch that, upon a certain signal, sends some cryptocurrency somewhere, and they don't care where the signal comes from or whether it's intentional, and the transfer cannot be rescinded or reversed. It's literally dumber and more easily abused than a normal contract where humans look at what's been written and then agree on whether or not the terms have been fulfilled. The only thing "smart" about "smart contracts" is how they can be used to fleece less clever or observant people, either through their own mistakes or your "mistakes" in programming the contract.

There is no theoretical point at which they will be anything else.

There's no reason to even humour it by saying that theoretically some of the applications might be useful, becaues they'll never be. They will always be worse than the simpler systems we already have. They're simply a dream of scamming people, avoiding taxes and/or getting labour that you don't have to pay people for.

Adding to the paying in tether thing, I'll say it is expressly illegal under the fair labor standards act.

To be considered a "negotiable instrument payable at par" under the law, you have to meet an the following requirements.

Payable at par
Be in writing
Be signed by the maker or drawer
Be an unconditional promise to pay
State a fixed amount of money
Be payable to order or to bearer
Be freely transferable from one person to another person
Be payable either on demand or at a definite time

Bolded are the requirements that tether does not meet.
