Sky Sports has apologised for "insensitive" comments made about Everton manager Sean Dyche during the 4-0 defeat by Aston Villa on Sunday.

Commentators Bill Leslie and Andy Hinchcliffe said his clothing made him look like a "croupier" - someone who oversees gaming tables at casinos.

Dyche was wearing a black armband in memory of Michael Jones, who died working on the club's new stadium.

A Sky spokesperson apologised for any "upset or distress caused".

Yeah, I wonder if people don’t know that it’s literally required by law for public companies to act in the interests of shareholders. i.e. money = all. Corporations don’t care about you, me or Mason’s battered girlfriend.

Before all this came out he was probably their 2nd most valuable player, at least.

Yeah and the statement itself said nothing about releasing him, it just said "his future is away from Man U and we'll help him make that happen" which likely means they're going to keep him and keep paying him until some other club decides to pay them money for him

This is exactly what is going to happen. United probably had him internally valued at £100m before all of this went down. He was a raw 19 year old England international striker scoring a goal every 3 games when he was suspended. I'm sure there will be some sort of sell on/buyback clause wherever he may end up.

E: What happens in Greenwood goes to say Italy and scores 30 goals this season. Does Southgate call him up?

Exactly what is going to happen. They'll loan him out to some team on the continent and hope he nets 30, some "Greenwood is a new person!" puff pieces get planted, and then they'll be able to get away with bringing him back.

No one's going to pay £50M-plus for him and they're not going to sell him cheap.

It'll be forgotten about almost immediately outside of some boos inside grounds when he touches the ball like almost everything controversial in football.

Remember the Germany "protest" team photo from the World Cup? Nobody else does either.

That's the beauty of all the money being in the TV contracts, the league and the teams already have it and there's nothing fans can do to meaningfully affect it since Sky et al have already guaranteed it. Maybe next year when the negotiations start again, the networks will lower their offer because of all the unsavoury goings-on (they won't) and then Bein will swoop in with an amazing super deal for the league that will save the day and force the public to hand over even more money to watch it.
