My eyes keep sliding off Sally Forth, but it's turning into a hateread because of how the author thinks the constant :words: makes it fun and quirky rather than tedious to parse through, the way the Forths lives are a misery-fest rivaling Funky Winkerbean, and how it utterly refuses to have the characters push back and tell this toxic mom to gently caress off.

So we've got like 3 different news articles Jules skimmed through by now, right? There's the chemical spill cover-up, the use of someone's likeness in an AI footage, and then whatever the gently caress this animal trafficking thing is about. It just obfuscates whatever point Jules think she's trying to make with this story, if she even put any thought to it in the first place.

Thank you to everyone who discussed Arthurian myth so I can be lazy and not try to write anything up. :v:

The only things I have to add for now are that in Prince Valiant, assuming I am remembering correctly:

Mordred is Arthur's half brother instead of his bastard son;
Prince Arn is married to Mordred's daughter Maeve;
and their toddler daughter Ingrid is the queen as she is Arthur's niece.

Arn and Maeve were appointed as co-regents when Arthur retired, although Arn resigned just this year.

Also, as far as magic goes, sometimes it's absolutely real in very unsubtle ways, although often it's vague and the characters don't really distinguish between the actually impossible stuff and like, proto-chemistry. As an example, just this past year we've seen a witch hunter trying to kill a woman for knowing that guano could be used to make fertilizer or whatever, but also a circle of witches calling down a meteor shower like it's Final Fantasy to kill the witch hunter.

Peanuts (August 25, 1976)

This particular device (CB being unable to write with a pen without dumping ink everywhere, which only happens with dip pens) shows up a lot, and it is one place where Peanuts feels more and more "off" the longer the strip ran. A kid the age of Charlie Brown using a dip pen in the 50s (when the strip started) or 60s was plausible, but by '76 the Bic had rendered them all but extinct.
