Speaking of Extra Credit I just wanna say, years ago I tried listening to y'all but it just didn't work for me, lotta responding to stuff with just "WOW REALLY? UGH" instead of, y'know, riffing and discussion, etc. So I gave it up back then, but I've given it another chance this week and it's so much better now and I'm really enjoying it, so good job y'all

To elaborate, the core philosophy of nofap is that you're wasting your time/energy on porn and will become a gigachad meme if you can resist jerking off. It's a kind of Jordan-Peterson-clean-your-room thing, and to the extent that it works it's mainly just a self-control exercise. Reddit being reddit, they have to make it weird and obsess over the taxonomy of jerking off. Semen retention also says that you're wasting your time/energy on porn, but with an added mysticism angle. It's not the self-control that you're cultivating, it's literal spiritual energy. It's why they're weirder about nocturnal emissions, for instance--to nofapists, that's just an involuntary response to limiting your jackin' time; to semen retenters, it is their body hampering their spiritual ascension. It's kind of like the difference between r/drugs and Cantelmoism. They're both into psychotropics, it's just one wants to trip balls, while the other wants to trip balls but also talk to god.

Howdy, folks. It's your old forums pal, Lou of "Lou Reads the Internet for YOU!" Just a heads up. I will most likely be taking loureads.com and the entire podcast down in the near future. While I have toyed with reviving the podcast and doing a look back at how badly some episodes have aged, I have to face the facts. There is a very real possibility that the podcast is actually hurting my job prospects at this point. Sadly, people don’t seem to be able to look past the content to the craft. I don’t have any direct evidence that this is the case but based on previous negative interactions it certainly has the potential to be a problem. You may recall a guy said I was unfit to be around children when I was coaching Little League because of the podcast. Anyway... If you want to make sure you have downloaded everything you want to keep I recommend doing that soon. Feel free to share the podcast as torrents or whatever. I have put a lot of the episodes on my YouTube and I may have to deal with that in the future as well but right now the blog is fairly problematic. Ah, the late 2000s. Eternally laying the foundations for future cancelation attempts. I hope to keep being invited to be on the F Plus to read nonsense in the future!
