She also recently defended Torey Lanez (the fella what shot Megan thee Stallion), like wrote a letter to the judge to vouch for him. :lmao:

I think Iggy's 'rapping' accent has drifted from one accent that's different to her speaking accent to a different accent that's also not hers. She sounds more British in that clip.

Also, the worst sports center name I've ever heard of is actually Canadian: The Save On Foods Memorial Center. Commemorating the life of a grocery store chain that's not even dead.

I have an uncle who said if he was a billionaire he would try and buy the naming rights to a stadium and call it something like "politicians are morons stadium" because there's gotta be a price point where they agree to pretty much any name that doesn't contain an obscenity or something they could be sued over.

The Metrodome in Minneapolis had its full name set in law (as the Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome, named after the former senator and US vice president) and so couldn't sell naming rights. The commission in charge of managing wanted some extra cash so they came up with a clever workaround to sell the naming rights to the play field which were bought by the Mall of America, so the full name was "Mall of America Field at the Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome". When the Metrodome was replaced 10 years ago the new stadium was not statutorily named so they could sell the naming rights as usual.

The Blue Jays' stadium is the Rogers Center now, it has officially been for a while. Everybody still calls it the Skydome, that's not what's interesting.

What's interesting is that a few years ago a Jays fan tweeted that the team owners (Rogers Communications) should give Jose Bautista a new contract or he would "throw the Ted Rogers statue in the lake." The cops showed up at his door and intimidated him.

Anchorage's Sullivan Arena sucks unwashed rear end in a top hat in the acoustics department, so you can't really do live shows there, even with millions of dollars in sound gear it still has the acoustics of a prison shower room. The thing keeping it afloat for years was our local AAA hockey team, but they were sold and moved to Portland in 2017. No not the Portland you're thinking of. Portland Maine.

It sat around as like a white elephant for the next 2.5 years, hosting the occasional trade shows and whatnot, and then COVID hit, and it became the winter homeless shelter because nowhere else in the city had even close to what it could provide in terms of beds. The city is trying to build a shelter with the same or greater capacity, but due to the corrupt-rear end current administration, it's stalled.

Luckily I don't think it's been anything but the Sully name-wise though.

Is there a sports team that uses it? it took like two years for the stadium the Seahawks play in to sell the naming rights so it was just called Seahawks Stadium for the first few years. It was used for other things because even in an undefeated season that's 10 or 11 days a year it's being used, don't make the playoffs it's 8 days max.

Yeah, it’s the home of the Florida Panthers NHL team. About 40 home games a season plus post season and is a 20,000 cap indoor venue so tends to split the big arena tours with Miami Heats venue down in Miami. With recent success I expect a new name sooner or later.
