All of this is very true. Divinikey is a great vendor and will at least attempt to take care of you if something goes wrong.

ok, they sound a lot better with the keycaps on. just pressing them on their own they sound a lot like mouse clicks though lol. this will work, but i think what i really want is just very heavy linears. maybe later.

the problem with blues is that they're too rattly. feels sloppy and loose. not the tight, crisp snick snack of a 30-year-old alps board. you'd think in the intervening decades progress would be possible, but i haven't been convinced yet.

echinopsis posted:you see what I mean about the click tho huh yeah i think its probably just an issue with clicky switches in general. these box jades are nice -- they feel good to type on and arent wobbly, but the click doesnt sound anything at all like an old model m, yeah. it sounds like a million mice clicking at once when im typing. i like how heavy the springs are and how snappy the key response is though. im also not constantly bottoming out on every key when i type like my old one. a+ feel on these things. the sound probably wont bother me enough to do anything about it for a while though. I took apart the Osborne keyboard I got a while back, for cleaning. I was curious to see what the gently caress it used for key switches since it felt like a rubber dome keyboard but it also felt really nice to type on. Turns out... NMB (the manufacturer) just made really nice rubber dome keyboards https://deskthority.net/wiki/NMB_dome_with_slider e: It's this, only with a standard lay-out, the full alphabet, and the Osborne badge: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejQJqViPHGU If it did USB I'd be typing on it right now. ee: Why does that video exist? Is it hand fetish porn? 3D Megadoodoo fucked around with this message at 18:22 on Jul 31, 2023 |

Bargain buy showed up evga Z20 optical switches some macro keys the volume rolling pin (which i like a lot more than a knob! the cable is VERY stout, braided, hard attached, and brings the onboard usb jack out to a separate USB plug. (it does the same with 4 pin 3.5 audio but i don't use that obv) So it's okay for use if you have a work machine with draconian IT policies that ban USB hubs Software is w/e. The wasd keys have texturing so it's weird to type on, but probably good for games. Not bad if you need something above a dell membrane keyboard and only have $45 to spend. but for 20 more you can get a keychron and for 50 more you can get a leopold

https://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2023/08/using-machine-learning-to-detect-keystrokes.htmlquote:Abstract: With recent developments in deep learning, the ubiquity of microphones and the rise in online services via personal devices, acoustic side channel attacks present a greater threat to keyboards than ever. This paper presents a practical implementation of a state-of-the-art deep learning model in order to classify laptop keystrokes, using a smartphone integrated microphone. When trained on keystrokes recorded by a nearby phone, the classifier achieved an accuracy of 95%, the highest accuracy seen without the use of a language model. When trained on keystrokes recorded using the video-conferencing software Zoom, an accuracy of 93% was achieved, a new best for the medium. Our results prove the practicality of these side channel attacks via off-the-shelf equipment and algorithms. We discuss a series of mitigation methods to protect users against these series of attacks.

is this different than that other one that turned out to be completely garbage at actually detecting keystrokes from a few months ago

T+48h with this little evga keyboard: It's really weird to have it wake up and do the light show thing when you just walk up to the desk (it has a very crude lidar sensor below the space bar) Other than that it's pretty okay! I've wrangled the macro stuff and have figured out how to program it. Only issue is that i don't have a good use for the roller still.

my son bought this keyboard https://www.amazon.com.au/Redragon-...B09BVCVTBC&th=1 and I am extremely impressed with it considering the price the switches are some knockoff linear ones, which I have to admit are fine. the bottoming out does the job of being a tactile response the amount of led effects are actually pretty cool, including ones that are dependent on what you type and it feels pretty solid and decent imo. and didnt think id like a 60% but it works. dunno if I'd want 60% for myself but its' enjoyable

I never ended up upgrading my barocco but i have been considering a Keychron Q11 so I can do macros in a reasonable way. mistels programming method is flaky, but once i got ctrl mapped to the left space bar it made me realize how nice multiple layers and a quality macro or remap setup could be. i am strongly on the "thumb keys own" train and the moonlander looks awesome on that front
