The problem is definitely that an Abus lock costs more than that fence, probably. Though, I think that perfectly sums up "a padlock keeps out the honest and the lazy"; if you're the owner of that, you don't even need to remember the key! The visual does the rest of the security theater lifting for you.

I had to do this last time I locked myself out of the shed. Wish I'd been smart enough to use a lock with enough shackle to make itself completely useless.
