God, the loving Nice Guy vibes in this page is off the charts. 'Awww, look how kind Snout is to let her down gently! Isn't HE such a good person?' And Mookie hosed up the execution because this isn't a touching scene of someone confessing their love only to be rejected but still being friends. This is Idiota wanting to bang Snout right after the heels of the revelation that she was only using him. Why should anyone even explain themselves for saying no? There's also something unsettling/misogynistic over how Idiota just has to calmly accept Snout telling her no while Arudak gets to act like a sadsack all the time because he misses having sex with his wife.

This is just all so badly done. Arudak's issue was he wants to bring his wife back only to be told she loved another. And that he got her killed when he decided to try Nazism as a hobby. I mean, why would he be tempted by something he knows is fake? He's there to bring the real one back. The dream world should have attempted to convince him that he had succeeded, only to fail because his "wife" keeps acting like a sex homunculus. This could make him realize that he only valued her body and knew nothing of the real her. And Idiota is somehow worse, she's such a nothing character that Mookie had to go back years worth of comics to find the one time she cuddled Snout and acted manipulative, and even then that just came out as she wants to gently caress Snout but feels bad about how she acted. But the worst part is once again everything is about Snout, he's the one that solves everything, but in the laziest, zero stakes way imaginable. Nothing required character growth or sacrifice, just saying "Let's be friends" to someone he's not interested in and doing his favourite thing in the world, waggling a piece of paper in someone's face. Amazing.

Holy poo poo this is bad. It reduces Idiota entirely to "Oh she had a crush on him or whatever". Nothing about the original overstepping of boundaries or even why she was doing it (which was NEVER indicated as any kind of love/lust). Of course in the process it also reduces all of her motivations- wanting to find the Legacy herself, her conflict with Arduak, any conflict she may have had with her fellow Ink Witches, etc. Instead it's just all she needs is to be let down gently by the stupid guy. Is it character assassination if you never had a character to start with? Or is it like an abortion thing?

Kaianda's Challenge was a retread of siren vines attacking her, but the power of friendship saved her again and then she drowned the bad guys. This is still a more satisfactory conclusion to her arc than whatever the gently caress's going on with the rest of the group. I am not surprised. This is exactly what you get from a writer who is more interested in finishing the story than writing it. Idiota was supposed to have motivations, things relating to the coven, to the pages, to Arudak, to being given a nickname, but she got written like a predator and the author never got over it so this is all she gets. The bad thing was actually a good thing and stop thinking about it please, it's over, next story, dwarves.

It's the same reason that naked cuddling is just ~*friendship*~ but Snout and Arudak have never done it, and at this point most of the sex we've seen is bad /// challenges sex. Which is to say the comic isn't actually sex positive or anything like that. It's just occasionally horny on main.

pretty funny that this is a sequel to dominic deegan. i get trying to do something "new" in a world you made, but outside of women dying sexily as a trope, what would lead you to guess *this* is what the sequel is like? it's this small cast, personal story about living in the aftermath of dominics actions, but nothing ever seems *from him* and we never get characters acting like or challenging his role. what's the next scene, spirit dominic appearing to say "geewhiz good job not loving your friend, here's forbidden knowledge I guess"?

Much like what he will be doing with his future dwarf pornography project I can understand wanting to move on to another story but still setting it in the Deeganverse to get eyeballs from former fans. The bit I really don't understand with Legacy is how it's completely divorced from all the locations and characters of the original comic (except Jacob, eventually) while still having everything completely dedicated to Dominic Deegan. Like he could have made the sequel be about Dominic or his family instead of setting it two centuries later. Or if he wanted a clean break just mention Deegans in passing and make it about literally anything else. I don't get it.
