Erin M. Fiasco posted:I'm a sucker for weird gimmicky promotions and anything related to sukeban so color me tentatively interested. Loved that hype video. That is the exact vibe I got when I read the full tweet but I guess it won't be focusing on boring WWE style matches like WRP, so it isn't quite as dumb.

yea ok posted:it's very ambitious that's for sure I have absolutely no idea how flying (& contracting??? This must be like when ROH first did contracts back in the early extremely delayed PPV era) a bunch of women, many of whom are tremendous wrestlers that I love watching, who aren't known in America outside of maybe a handful of thousand sickos spread across the entire country is going to in anyway be viable. And the venue they are running is a 130 year old former bank on the National Register of Historic Places & has been used for fundraisers for Hilary Clinton & Kanye West has played a show there. And then all these designers & poo poo that I know nothing about but seem fancy & probably expensive. It seems bonkers? But hey, if Arisa & Risa & Riko get paid then cool, so long as they don't get stranded in America or stuck in a lovely Lucha Underground contract that fucks up their ability to work even after the project has been binned. I guess they are really hoping that there will be big crossover with the bigger anime/manga fanbase. So long as we get to see these women stiffing the poo poo out of each other the presentation can be whatever & I'll be happy.

i apologize for my obstinance and frivolity in this thread. it's really not the place for it, what with how little discussion there is to be had as it is. i'm rather fond of the idea all-told and as shaky as the whole thing seems, i can't help but be excited for the potential of sukeban. i'll be rooting for Stray Cat alongside Chinston Wurchill. as for overall gang affiliation, regardless of stray cat's ties, that's still up in the air.

With that number of tickets they 100% expect to make their money on TV/streaming which on one hand is a huge gamble but OTOH with the writers strike they may just get on TV

I kind of assumed Saori was contracted with Stardom considering that she's in Cosmic Angels and is being very regularly booked. Glad to see her getting the extra payday and exposure though.

FWIW on the match graphic Taka posted for Anou's JTO booking today she has FREE listed as her affiliation under her name, whereas the other wrestlers from outside promotions have Marvelous, Ganbare, etc. listed there. That Sukeban promotion has bad vibes. Looks like a customs thing to me with the goofy costumes. I'd much prefer to watch a normal wrestling promotion with access to that roster. Hard to imagine them having a profitable business model, so whatever.

Glad to see her getting the extra payday and exposure though. Stardom doesn't seem to have issues with freelancers being used as regulars as long as they're getting the job done. Kaori Yoneyama's done literally hundreds of matches with them for like a decade and she's not signed with Stardom.

The only people signed to Stardom are the ones who only work Stardom. So I would expect Suzu, Mei & Yuna to be the ones signed.
