I have never been able to see "NSW" and not just read it as "Not Safe for Work", and as a result I imagine it's the most perverted of the Australian states if they have to warn everyone up front.

NSW is probably the most SFW state and is instead known for corruption and taking bribes from property developers. ACT and NT are the only Australian Territories where it is legal* to buy hardcore pornography and fireworks, so probably those two. *Offer not valid to First Nations Australians.

The fine for porn is 5x higher than alcohol, and while you're allowed to transport alcohol through the territory, there's no such exception for the porn. Porn is just that dangerous

Infamously, the Pirates of the Caribbean porn parody Pirates (2005) was initially prohibited in Australia because of its non-sexual fight scenes. Fetishes, which are much broadly defined under the film guidelines to include “body piercing, application of substances such as candle wax, ‘golden showers’, bondage, spanking or fisting”. People over the age of 18 portraying minors, including scenarios involving school uniforms or other indicators of youth. Incest fantasies or other fantasies which are offensive or abhorrent Edit: does that mean just having body piercings or the actual act of piercing the body?

Aboriginal people have no sovereignty or power in Australia at all. In the 1990s, after the colonial occupier's high court acknowledged that the aboriginal people did in fact exist prior to the invasion (the official line up until then was that Australia was terra nullius), they passed the Native Title act. It allows for aboriginal people to jump through a ton of legal hoops to maybe be granted some control over some land that capital doesn't want (land that whites deem useful is not up for discussion!). However if whitey does an oopsie and realizes after the fact that the land was in fact useful to them, such as precious things in the ground to be dug up, they just take it back lmao

Milo and POTUS posted:wait are they not allowed to buy porn or fireworks really There are some places in Australia which are predominantly First Nations communities that are dry. In those places pornography and booze is banned. You need someone who is better educated on these issues than me to tell you how much of this is White Parochialism and how much of this is specific Communities saying "please we don't want it here".... but given then general vibe of ~powerful racism~ in this country, I would hazard a guess it's mostly the first. If you're looking for some wiki summary, this is kind of a decent place to start. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Territory_National_Emergency_Response EDIT: More broadly, fireworks are illegal for individual possession except in two of the states (technically the two territories). hooman has issued a correction as of 06:57 on Sep 5, 2023 |
