I do feel somewhat bad for twitch streamers, not really angry ham guy there, but there's a lot who are earning a barely supplemental income because they play some poo poo game every night that 100 people watch, and they've been stuck doing it for 10 years and there's literally no way out. It's like some weird hell purgatory. Some of them look just so goddamn dead inside is all.

You are a female? Best be prepared to do almost OnlyFans level of Fan Service/Hot Tub streams etc... If not, develop multiple social media presences, link them to when you are streaming, cultivate parasocial relationships with fans, create schedules and stick to them.. You have to treat it like a business. It reminds me of a friend of mine who loved playing poker. One day, I asked him if he ever considered going Pro. He said he did but decided against doing it, because he loved playing Poker. And while he was good, there was only so far his skills could take him. For him to get any better, he'd have to study and memorise odds and learn complicated stats formulas. Essentially, the only way to make a living at Poker would be to stop it being a fun time activity and treat it as a job.

Casey Explosion did a good tweet ages ago about why she mentions painting warhams and sometimes posts them on her twitter but doesn't stream painting them, the gist of which was that the easiest way to kill a hobby is to start trying to monetise it. Despite what grindset dickheads tell you, you do not in fact have to monetise your hobbies and probably shouldn't.

Any broadband experts on here, I may have killed our work broadband (but I don't think I have, but I think the boss thinks I have!). Spoilered the rest for those unexcited by broadband problems. We were with plusnet business and they stopped doing business broadband from today with very little warning (obscure posts on the blog on their website do not count). Anyway, as we are moving premises in a couple of months and our contract with them was until February 2024, my line manager phoned to see what the procedure to cancel early was and was told the service was closing on 5th September (this was 2 weeks ago). She has spent several hours trying to get any sense out of them and finally, yesterday, they said they would switch us to residential for a couple of months requiring an account change. They sent details of what to do with the router and this is where I might have messed up. The instructions implied it would only take 5 minutes to switch services. She didn't show me the instructions just read them out. So I did a regular reset and the blue light on the router came on and basically we couldn't load any websites but bizarrely one or two emails did make it through. What complicated matters was locally there was some problem with all internet services - my personal Three, BT (which I use as a backup), EE, Vodafone (I know this was a widespread biggie) and the downdetector sites (when I finally got on the interwebs - not at work) showed various different ISPs having a problem. So it was not clear whether lack of access to the interwebs was due to change of our broadband or the geographical problems. Also, yesterday following just a normal reset, I could access the router. I went in today to see what was what and there is a steady orange light and a steady orange b showing no access to broadband. So I did the Factory Reset which I should have done yesterday. Stopped at work for an hour, did 3 FRs in that time, and each time it ends up with the orange b. AND I can't load the router login page. IMHO IF anything I did yesterday was wrong, then factory reset would have surmounted that problem. So I think plusnet have just not done something necessary their end. But I had a panic email from line manager this morning about me doing the reset instead of the factory reset and how that might have screwed things up. I'm home now and having done factory reset will pop in to the office tomorrow and see if that has made a difference and if it was just a time thing (when I used to have plusnet in my old flat and seem to recall it took about 2 weeks before I got the steady blue!) Any suggestions anyone? I have googled til the cows come home. I can't access router login page, can't phone plusnet because line manager has all the contact details and is away today uncontactable. I'm pretty sure it's a Plusnet problem not a Jaeluni problem!
