At this point I think Twitter chugs along until something with some kind of new/exciting mass appeal comes along that also tags all the bases Twitter does. I don’t know what that looks like, my judgment sucks as I thought it was going to be Threads lol. Like others in this thread, I’ve felt a lot of nostalgia for the early days of the internet as of late. Usenet, BBSs, forums (although since stumbling in here in the early 2000’s this place consolidated my forums use), IRC, search portals, newsletters like Craigslist, etc. I like the idea of a fragmented internet. I don’t wonder though if the future of the Twitter-like social media doesn’t look similar to what is happening with Trump on Truth social, and then screenshots of his posts just get reposted everywhere else in different demographics and commented on within those environments, etc.
