John Allison has a real knack for coming up with characters that exist for the sake of a group scene/joke. I get the Wessex Brothers standing in for the Krays, but if Bonnie Prince Gordon and Tony Crow are meant to be a play on real individuals they're beyond my mild Anglophile deduction.

I'd say why do both of his comics have a char that does genetic research but we all know the reason why.

Was Rene even doing anything actually illegal before he tried pushing somebody over the railing to silence them? Ignoring the issue of outstanding warrants or such, because that plot sure did, it was all about keeping one guy who wasn't thinking that hard about things from exposing his scheme which didn't even seem to be illegal.

He's a known(in the local news???) con artist so being exposed would've risked Mud abandoning him and his sales pitch failing entirely due to things unrelated to its merits. The attempted murder cinches the deal on the hole he's trying to dig his way out of.

Trying to prove his creative property was stolen by a child and being caught lying about it would give him a pretty scummy reputation.

You just reminded me of the time someone reposted the Cancerwife storyline and what an absolute clownshoes it was. Lisa was given back her test results, and the doctor must not have looked at it because it's the only reason Lisa got her results switched with someone else's. So Lisa spent several months doing the wrong treatments or taking someone else's prescription before anyone else figured it out.

I see this going one of two ways:
1) Renee backs down, turns himself in, goes to jail but actually finds contentment with the royalties when he sees how much Mud has been making
2) Mud gets sick of his poo poo, decks him hard, and Morgan has to deal with an injured conman
