They haven't been doing much good with DC, that's for sure. Just remake "48 Hours" or "Lethal Weapon" with Hal Jordan and Jon Stewart as space-cop buddies. I'd watch the hell out of that.

Grey Cat posted:Extended Play vhs do. Funny thing, the extended play modes were a good part of why VHS won out over Beta, since when RCA was in negotiations with Sony to license the latter format, they were like "These cassettes are neat but they can only store one hour of footage. Could you slow down the tape speed so it could fit a full football game on it?" To which Sony's answer was a resounding "no", not so much because they couldn't but because they didn't want to compromise video quality, not really understanding that storage capacity was more important for a home video format. Meanwhile JVC was like "no problem mate" and boom, 8 hours of footage on a 160-minute tape.

Like ten to twenty years from now when either is more everyday and commonplace I’ll hear “turns out porno was the backbone of those fledgling industries.”

Dick Burglar posted:Wasn't HD-DVD significantly technologically inferior than BluRay? At release HD-DVD had smaller overall capacity and IIRC ran at 1080i instead of 1080p. I recall reading that it was easier and faster to author HD-DVDs since Java wasn’t involved though. At the time, I was pretty skeptical of Blu-Ray due to Sony’s involvement, as they had racked up quite a few failed storage formats by that point.
