Also just awful pacing and that wanted to make a small adventure into a grand epic. The dinner scene that introduced the dwarfs and had that song was good and Bilbo waking up the next morning and chasing after seems like it had the tone right, everything else just felt like a cheap lord of the Rings knock off.
