It looks like that gun scales with when you find it - mine does way more damage per shot.

And yeah, it's the best gun in the game by far.

To build on this, if you go into scanner mode, you can see the markers for each planet or POI within your jump range. So you can just look at it, select it, and then you'll have the option to move to it.

Yeah, it's still not ideal, but it allows me to sort of pick and choose when I want to just click somewhere to get there and when I want to travel immersively, and all BGS games are very much about picking a way to play that makes you feel cool, since any obstacle can be overcome with enough insane spells/potions, VATS or firepower.

They do, it's odd. Calibrated Grendel? 7 damage unmodded. Add mod? It's now 6 or 8.

Compared to a Calibrated Coachman with slugs or even the Rapidshot, which would do 150-160 damage. Even my initial Old Earth Shotgun that came with slugs could probably pump more damage out, and that was listed at 115ish.

It is visible. And I will admit I have bias in this department due to both not really doing much at or above my level and removing the scaling HP bonus for enemies.

IIRC someone said earlier that I could just go buy them at merchants and don't have to worry about going planet to planet looking for titanium or whatever.

I was pleasantly surprised that in Bill's quest it was just a tour of an interesting and out-of-the-way location; there was no RPG cliche shift into a combat sequence, like halfway through Bill gets attacked by some raiders or something. Nope. Just taking the tour. Loved it..

My thinking is it scales that particular gun (and other legendaries) to different tiers when you find them - since there are 4 tiers, besides the 'rarity' which only changes how many special modifiers it has.

trizzNPH posted:

Mods affect damage in that some mods will raise or lower it i.e. explosive will lower per shot damage, but give it an AOE effect - where the High Powered internal mod will just raise damage.

The -base- damage is determined by the tier, going up to 'Advanced' which is the highest (for guns) - or if we're talking armor, Superior is the highest tier.

I have a Calibrated quality Grendel that does 62 damage per shot. I have all 4 ranks of ballistics but no rifle specific perks. I love finding bugged weapons.

I think checked another Calibrated Grendel and it did like 12 base damage. I couldn't tell you what else is different between them but this version slaps

I feel like rarity should also give like a 0.5 tier damage amp per level of rarity if they don't have those prefixes already or something because finding rare/epic/legendary weapons with just rear end base damage so you can't even use them at your current level suuucckkkssss

The biggest difference you can get in per-shot damage is between Semi and Full Auto

Your 62 damage per shot one is probably a semi-auto version.

I’ve instead been playing Starfield using Moonlight on my jailbroken switch at 1080p, maxed out at 100% scaling with DLAA. It then downscales to it’s 720p screen and the image quality is immaculate. I wish I had access to gyro aiming cause thumbstick aiming kinda sucks.

Is that in semi-auto? For some reason the full auto mod just completely dumpsters the damage on rifles, it makes trying to figure out what gun to use really annoying sometimes.

Oh, Dee, you card. :-*
I finally understand the complaint about the quests popping up in the mission log as you walk by chatty NPCs. Took a break from all my space adventures to clean up older missions, starting from the earliest incomplete, and it is not very fun fighting level 8 spacers while level 49. It is even weirder when the last enemy is level 72 or whatever and the loot is still leveled to the range containing level 8 gear.

Recently equipped the Adoring Fan with a long barrel grenade launcher and it was hilarious doing the Ebbside missions in Neon. I have an incredible picture of a grenade missing its target completely and going into the nearby Chunks, sending tons of poo poo flying and a half dozen NPCs running for their lives. Thankfully, companions don't seem to be able to rack up bounties.

It's crazy where they put the detail in this game. Like, that is really cool. Also, there's a quest where someone has murdered people in the back half of the hospital and if you go try to tell anyone in the front half of the hospital you just...can't. It's a game that feels sort of 3/4 finished but in random places. Still very fun to find the places they did get the detail in.

There's a good number of those companions, afaik. I've met like 3 named people in NA alone that were potential crew/companions, not just 'Energy Weapons Specialists'. If not expanded in a DLC, at least they're good templates for modded companion expansion!

People are gonna have a lot of hyperbolic responses but the real answer to this question is: it's a Bethesda game. Do you like Bethesda games? This is probably my favorite Bethesda game from someone who put some time into Skyrim and the Fallouts but never fell in love with those games. This is more of that. There's a lot of chaff, mechanics are buggy, a lot of poo poo is held together with bubblegum and paperclips but there's some fun quests and the cities are small but dense and have a lot of character to em. I probably wouldn't play it at full price but if you've got game pass or you can wait for a sale gently caress it you'll probably have a good time and they'll probably iron out some of the bugs later.

I think it's a pretty good game. There's a lot to do and you can spend a lot of time doing it. I like the way the shooting works and it's fun to clear out dungeons of bad guys. But really it feels kind of average somehow, it's hard to explain. Like it's missing things... There's a number of things I think the game is missing that I think would be clear benefits, but there's other stuff that's more nebulous and I'm not certain about enough to describe. Anyways I'd say it's worth the money at least.

Really doesn't feel like a good answer in this case because plenty of people who like Bethesda games are finding this one to fall flat on its face.

It feels like less of the things that make "Bethesda games" game stretched thinner but copy pasted more often. Despite technically having 100 planets and infinite procgen stuff, the universe feels smaller than an elder scrolls map.

The inventory management is so bad, I have to assume it was done this way on purpose because Todd hates his players and wants to punish them. Like, why the gently caress isn't the infinite storage safe at the Lodge linked to the crafting tables? You have to note what items you need, go to your room to get them, and then bring them back to the table instead of just accessing them from the table? gently caress that.

I threw all the crafting stations on my captured Claymore and gave it infinite storage. Game is significantly better now.
