We should never forget that Empire Strikes Back wasn't the sequel to Star Wars. The Holiday Special was the sequel to Star Wars.

The Empire Strikes Back being actually great is the only thing that stopped Star Wars from becoming only an interesting footnote in the history of film, a cult favourite that everyone wished could have been more.

Still baffled that they haven't had Ahsoka meeting Aphra in the comics set during the OT, or...anything animated with Aphra, really

Could've had them go meet the furry gravity skeleton rather than kidnapping Luke for the job

Wonder how Ahsoka reacted to the opening of the Fermata Cage and the Force breaking (well, for Luke, anyway. Vader got supercharged and is having a grand ol' time)

I mean, I guess it also helps the galaxy not feel so small, I guess? At least one aspect where two mediums are wholly separate so everyone isn't meeting everyone else

The funny thing is Aphra's actually already met Hera

Not in a meaningful sense. It would be like if there was a track for Return of the Jedi called "Luke and the Emperor".

She isn't really ahabing, she straight up tells Sabine to destroy the map if they think they will lose it again.

If anything Sabine is going a little too hard for Ezra to the point she is now siding with the obvious villains who just moments before killed her other friend.

I know this is an episode ago but I just finished it and have to ask why doesn't she just take the sphere and run.

Like when Baylan has Ahsoka at his mercy, fine. Sure. Use it as leverage. But then he tosses her off the cliff! Just go, get off the planet, figure out the sphere on your own like you almost did before it got stolen the first time!

Does she have any reason to think Baylan is the only way to Ezra? Like no, the coordinates are on the thing just take the thing.

I'm getting serious Season 1 of Legends of Tomorrow vibes off of this.

Yeah that’s my main objection, the pace is a little off and the visuals are doing that “let’s use low contrast darks because it’s like natural lighting” poo poo that I hate but mostly, it’s the story depending a little too much on the good guys being dumb because the bad guys have to keep winning until the last minute turnaround.

Like the first plot beat is a prison break succeeding because the guy piloting the prison ship is a moron.

I always assume in those “join me!” situations that there is also a ton of unseen Force psionic warfare whirling around. Like how when modern jet-fighters engage in combat they also use electronic warfare to jam, confuse, or even subvert eachother’s avionics.

Possibility #1: She is just stalling for time as, obviously, noted badass and de facto Jedi Ahsoka Tano is silently climbing back up that cliff and is going to appear any moment now. Right? …right?
Possibility #2: She knows that running away is not going to work on account of Baylan being a Force-user, and perhaps would prefer not to find out how reasonable he actually is by pissing him off like that. (Due to Reasons she does not even have her jetpack. :v:)

I don't know, in terms of dumb things happening because the plot requires it, I was much more frustrated by Hera completely failing to gain any support from the senators for her investigation of Seatos. You would think she'd simply lead with the fact that a goddamn SSD hyperdrive core was stolen right off Corellia, but that she managed to put a tracker on it and had better go pursue the matter right now before the tracker is discovered – but no, despite this appearing to be infinitely more actionable than her suspicions regarding Thrawn, she never even brings it up. Saying that she believes Thrawn's allies are working on a way to find him is as close as Hera ever gets, and needless to say that is nowhere near enough.

Feh. It annoyed me then, it annoys me now.

Kiner is knocking it out of the park on this. He's always been good, but he's blending a really unique mix of his own style and the more bombastic Williams-esq stuff that feels very different than the stuff in Mando and Boba Fett that I really like. I liked during the Clone Wars flashback that some of his Blade Runner style synths from the last season of CW snuck into the score

If they tried to make a Jaws sequel today, I bet they'd do something dumb like try to make it in 3d. I hate that fad, I almost wish people had tried to make 3d movies a thing some time in the past so everybody could have realized then it doesn't have any lasting appeal and not bothered to try it again in what is now our present.
