+Pick compensation

Portland gets off the Nurkic train and brings in two vets on large expiring contracts. They would need a center, but maybe they could get Charlotte to part with one.

Between Miller, Martin and Bridges (unfortunately) Charlotte has enough small forwards. Hayward for Herro (who should fit great next to LaMelo and replaces the production of the outgoing Oubre) and salary chaff (sorry Josh Richardson) is a pretty good deal.

Miami gets Dame and Bam gets some help in the post. Nurkic as back-up big works well I think.

Everybody wins?

Charlotte picks are going to be gold for awhile. Miami has a short timeline so their future picks should also be good. Lowry and Hayward vet presence for the young guys, flip one or both for more assets. Or maybe trade Jerami Grant for KAT in the middle of the season. All kinds of possibilities!

Charlotte owes their first to San Antonio, lotto-protected until 2025. I wouldn’t mind rolling the dice on Herro, he’s at least taller than Rozier, but that trade is still dogshit for Portland

I'm sure this is a perfect system that will by no means emphasize Oubre's faults.

Look, I gave Embiid a fair deal of poo poo, but I don't wanna see the guy turned into Sisyphus.

yeah I mean there's a salary floor, once you ship out Dame you might as well have Nurkic getting paid. What else are you gonna do, you're clearing cap space before you see what Scoot/Shaedon can do, for what? To sign Tobias Harris and Valanciunas on $40m/2 year deals that'll end when the Nurkic contract was ending anyway?

It's also typically much more valuable for Portland to have good players under contract than cap space, because free agents do not want to play there so trades are basically all they've got.

I like the signing for the 76ers though. Low risk, and Oubre is the kind of guy you'd think they'd get a lot of use out of, and if he flames out (probably) oh well. They kinda need to make high-upside moves right now.

As a "replacement" for Harden, but not much else you can do.

Ya know, I’m saying we never tell on each other. And then the day comes where I’m still playing by those same rules… Like man, you want the same thing? We’re gonna go out together and then that ain’t the code you want to live by no more. So when that happens, you can’t be how it was… You don’t want the same thing no more and you show me that you don’t want the same thing. We don’t want the same thing.”

I actually kinda like Oubre, I just can't see him getting on or fitting with Embiid or playing in a demanding defensive system like Nurse runs. Last year was almost ideal for him.
