Had a great ACAB moment this evening. I'm at home and my driveway camera goes off because people are walking up to my car with flashlights. I open the garage and ask them what the gently caress they are doing. They are two cops investigating a hit and run. They have decided that my car was involved and are questioning me about who the woman is that was driving the car. They refuse to explain anything, yell that I'm lying to them and I need to admit my car was in an accident. One of the cops points to the damage to my car as the evidence. I ask what she's talking about as she points to a small cm crack and some scrapes. My car is 10 years old with over 100k miles. There are scrapes everywhere. I tell them to gently caress off and go inside. I get a call from their sergeant who explains to me that they came to interview me because a license plate tracker tagged my car as going through a red light a mile away from the accident around the time it happened. They have no video footage of my car. The other driver did not specifically say it was my make or model of car just a color and a crossover. They have no license plate or any other information. My car was within a few miles and is a white crossover. Case closed. All the cops needed to know is who was the young woman driving my car. Me: "You realize you have no evidence here that meets any standard right?" Cop: "Well, your car was in the area and has scratches in the front. It was definitely your car involved." Me: "That's it? You don't have any videos, plates, witnesses, etc." Cop: "Well the driver said it was your car." Me: "You said the driver said it was a white cross-over." Cop: "Yeah that's an exact match for your car." Me: "A white cross-over. One of the most common variations of car." Cop: "Yes. It was your car." Me: "Nope. So what's next here." Cop: "Well you need to tell us who the young woman was who was driving the car." Me: "I literally have no idea what you are talking about. We're done." Cop: "Uh, well... this could be bad for your insurance." Me: "Bye." There was no woman driving my car tonight. My car was miles away from that intersection but my car is getting put on the accident report as the car that caused the accident and then drove away. Gonna have fun with my insurance on this one.

Oh for sure. I told the first pair to gently caress off within about 20 seconds. I normally would have told the sergeant to gently caress off too when he called but I was just too curious as to why they even showed up. The explanation was stupider than I could have even imagined.

Because everyone loves cute animal content and working farm animal videos are big copaganda has started to permeate it too. So you'll see tiktoks and reel skits about k9 units being ready to maul on command mixed in as suggested clips next to cows rolling in fields, or pets excited their people are home. The reel on the left was mounted cops chasing down a dude. I don't watch or engage with this poo poo, I'm guessing it's just zucc scraping phone content and seeing cops and animals so assuming I must love both.

I know I have this reputation as an all-talk-no-action dude, so I wanted to share something I've been doing. I work at a grocery store, with an occasional duty of bringing carts back close to the store in the parking lot. Quite a few times, recently, I've grabbed something someone forgot in their cart, and hid it in my car temporarily while I wait for some of the homeless people who hang around sometimes to come by. When I see them, I give them what I have. One day I really lucked out and someone left a whole rear end cardboard box full of bread products in a cart, and it stayed in the hidden, shaded area that I left it in for them for a while. I know it's not much. But I wanted to tell y'all that I am doing some direct action. (also if a cop car parks in the lot I spit on it)
