It's Studio Deen so I can see this being 100% the case based on scenes from Konosuba.

I never actually watched the anime so I can't say. That being said, looking forward to a new wave of justified twitter outrage when they learn what the MC of Re: Monster does to the elves.

rouge means red in french
I remember reading Re:Monster a long time ago and it was basically the most egregious of all the isekai tropes. The MC had zero personality and showed no emotion. I think the narrator talked for him every time, never actually in the manga. Also it was one of those things where he gained like 500 skills every chapter and it was impossible to keep track what he was actually capable of. Every fight was a joke because of how OP the MC was. There was no challenge, no real conflict, etc. And yes, it had all the worst goblin tropes, despite the fact it actually had female goblins.

I haven't read that one in years but I vaguely recall hearing the original story was told in diary format hence why the manga is almost all narration.

the endless skills part just kept going on and on in the WN. I think that's where I dropped it.

That series was interesting and I read the web novel translations even, but stopped when I reached the hiatus. The places it goes to much later on are pretty fascinating.

Probably the worst, most upsetting part of that series, and it's on purpose so I don't blame the author, is the isekai'd guy whose hero power is basically entrancing any woman he encounters because iirc he was an incel in his previous life so rather than actually learn how to interact with women properly he just subconsciously mind controls them into liking him. He is the absolute worst. But I like that his character exists because he is a truly hateable perfect punching bag

Stexils
Jun 5, 2008

having read the WN of that one my takeaway is that the author had no idea whatsoever what he wanted the story to be, resulting in a plot that jerks around in completely random directions and the MC being a boring OP blank slate that just does whatever the current arc demands.

Tsukimichi works really well when animated. I honestly sorta treat it as a character-driven story where you're just here for the personalities, that's by far it's strongest point. Otherwise it will feel really directionless.

Funniest part is that at the end of the day he's still just a pathetic puppet of that princess. There's a reason the fanbase calls him Trashmoki.

I very much enjoyed the first season/cour of Reborn as a Vending Machine etc. It’s not exactly anything new other than the gimmick, but it’s decent, not horny, and judging from the web novel the next season should be pretty good.

Look, the MC thinks that as long as the elves consented he wasn't a bad guy. Doesn't matter that he drugged them out of their minds and kept them locked in cages until they said yes. I would have respected him more if he just killed them to be honest. I didn't make it much further into the series because of that and whenever I saw a snippet of information. He had evolved into even more of an overpowered monster and so did his cohorts so what tension even exists in that story?

I’m kind of unsure about what we’re intended to take from that because I think Pina has described it wrong. While Remy’s brother hasn’t heard of the term “rotational-style agriculture”, he and the prince go on to describe the three-field system as the method the country is already using, so this society has already developed crop rotation, they just don’t recognise Pina’s modern jargon. But the productive leap in our world was transitioning to a four-field system where you’d grow two food crops, one fodder crop and one grazing crop. What Pina seems to be proposing though is growing a fodder crop instead of fallow and grazing the livestock on the fodder crop, which I don’t think actually works?

Ordinarily I’d just assume that either the translation was bad or the author just misunderstood or simplified the method, but given that it’s Pina proposing it, it legitimately could be that Pina has just hosed up and misremembered how the later system worked and is about to cause a huge famine.

A shame about the scanlators, hope someone else picks it up. I can't wait for the fist to come down.

Unrelatedly: The 'Black company/Slime tamer' (Tensei Kenja no Isekai Life):
I had a backlog of quite a few updates on it, hopped in.... and oh, a 'enrolled in magic school' arc. How fun.
It's so strange when a series decides to go the route of slapping the MC into some magic school... just to play it all completely straight and do nothing interesting with it.
I was hoping that he'd basically just tap in, get the stuff he needed, and then tap out, but 10 updates (LHUpdates, so 2-4 updates per chap.) later: School excursion.
It's also doing the 'can't have people know I'm overpowered'... while also having everyone know he's overpowered from the getgo.

It just feels like a reason to have people make exaggerated faces over how amazing he is, since he's gone so long without supporting characters around him to do so.

My comment was more that we're even talking about crop rotation in an isekai but yes. The kingdom already has it but I don't possess the farming knowledge to understand if it's a good idea to implement what Pina is suggesting. But because it is her suggesting it I don't think it will be a good idea.

In that vein, I'm playing Outerplane, a game with a setting where Earthlings coming over in various ways is commonplace. One sidestory features the line "Why do you Earthlings always think we don't know what basic things like soap are?"

That trivia you learned on wikipedia is already common knowledge. You have no useful information, they even know about guns and machinery. You are not a bringer of knowledge to drag these poor people out of the dark ages, you are just one of many Earthlings stuck on this planet.

Reminds me of Giant Sister in that regard, even has the horrific experimentation.

Based on rudimentary knowledge of agriculture...not really. The theory is sound, but requires knowledge of composting otherwise you can kill the plants via dehydration or burning from salts or excess nutrients like nitrogen and ammonia. Stuff needs to be treated first. What she's suggesting is for nature to "do it's thing" which is not how it works(sometimes it can work, but you'd have to have put a LOT of research into that and I doubt Pina has).
