Uh, dude, Spidey? We know you sometimes forget things, like when you have two web shooters or what costume you are even wearing sometimes, but you have met Mysterio before.  This is from 1979. Maybe Stan Lee's role as a sort of editor by 2003 wasn't really doing much, and maybe new writer Roy Thomas wouldn't be aware of this earlier story, but I can't imagine both of them missing it. Or I can, I guess. It did happen.
