I can get the settings for you in a bit when I get home, but just some intentional camera movement with long exposure walking across a closed bridge in the Kansas City West Bottoms during blue hour, then color graded.

Edit: Looks like 6.0 sec @ ISO 64. Hard to tell the aperture since the Helios lens is manual aperture but I'd guess about f/11?

I've been doing these types of photos for years, i won't go above a certain risk-reward ratio.

Also, no, I don't put the camera to my eye level, I just point and shoot.

Visual apprehension and spatial reasoning are areas of the brain that can be trained and with growth in both areas some people are able to utilize more of their visual real estate and factor in being able to focus and adjust other camera settings while doing complex tasks like driving with no more "effort" than eating a sandwich while driving.

That said, why are you using flash, Bob?

Yea I'm pretty adept, with a variety of cams. I can do SLR, rangefinder, digicam, mavica. Haven't tried MF yet and don't think I will.

In this specific case I used flash to light up the signs.

70kph is basically walking speed and a truck ahead means they were really crawling most likely.

The way the flash interacts with the signs is really interesting

It's because traffic signs and other reflectors are made up of inverted cubes. When you look inside a cube at a corner you get 3 surfaces that are all orthogonal to each other. The interesting thing about this setup is that it always reflects light back to where the source was. It's why cats eyes (the thing on the road not in a cats head) and road signs light up so brightly to you when your headlights fall on them.
