Lol. Lmao.

there's something to be said about a large party like labour having to accommodate a variety of interests and pressures, and not be too doctrinare

however, it's incredibly obvious that they could just give things to people and it would help a lot. stop with the mealy-mouthed nonsense and start delivering some tangible dinner-table political issues. i firmly believe that the labour party could run on something insanely boring like catching up on plumbing maintenance and so long as they actually did it it would boost them quite significantly

No-one had been convicted under the statute for 77 years. Presumably they'd want to put an end to videos of cops shielding these fuckheads giving other countries the "misguided" impression of government support.

Do the anti-socialists in AP actually believe this, or is it just an excuse to continue their favored politics? As you hint at, you could just as easily make the argument that AP has nothing to offer and are steadily losing voters as they keep moving right...

This. At least at three banks so far.

It's possible to get a tentative thumbs-up with the bank and have the switch done inside several days. But that depends on all the paperwork going through as it should. One has to keep checking in with the bank with an updated ejendomsvurdering every couple of months to keep them on board while looking for a new place, and then get everything sorted inside a very small window of time.

E: I kinda understand the logic behind it, but it's ridiculous in practice.

they believe it pretty well. they see it as their responsibility to run society in a rational way which balances the interests of all stakeholders in society. their main Thing is that they have a close association with LO, but they have a serious and deep commitment to the financial sector which places a fair amount of quite serious limitations on their ability to do things. also the ground rent tax didn't actually do them many favours - a lot of their most recognisable "left-wing" policy hasn't really helped them at all, because the Brand at this point is all about serious, sober governance and they've been insanely scandal-ridden in quite poisonous ways (incidentally this is also why the sunglasses thing was seriously damaging to rødt, it dealt serious damage to their ability to position themselves as Another Kind of Party).

this is one of those cases where "right" and "left" stop being terribly useful. the more europhile urbane labour party branches are much more favourable to liberal drug policy and are less manically afraid of refugees, but also much more resistant to economic dirigisme and enamoured with neoliberal doctrines of public governance than the "traditional" medium-sized town labour party. it's not obvious to me that either of these wings is to the left of the other as people typically use the term.

the thing is, the labour rightists aren't entirely wrong! we rely very heavily on private investment for just about every aspect of our society, and private investment in a financialised economy sees political risk as a big deal. in order to escape the strictures of political risk, you basically have to put a lot of our material comfort in play (you would certainly have to leave the EEA, for instance). the labour party's instinct is that this confrontation isn't necessary and they can just sort of negotiate the inevitable transformation of norway into a median european economy integrated in the greater european community in as graceful way as possible. many of them see this as basically a utopian project, true internationalism. of course, since they're incapable of seriously discussing what their project is, they keep making promises they can't keep and keep shrinking as their image takes blow after blow after blow as people just get gradually poorer and society keeps getting slightly grimier

voting one's interests - so long as one actually considers those interests in a slightly principled way - is perfectly legitimate.

land-based wind power is dead in the water because of overreach i think, in particular fosen. i do think that there ongoing bet on offshore wind is going to continue, so long as jan christian vestre doesn't do anything stupid or get run out by poor election results - that project is very much associated with him personally. if this is important to you, you should probably join the party and back vestre as eagerly as you can because there's a real possibility of regime change if they can't improve their polling.

It’s just useless “see we have ideas too!” blustering from the opposition. Stupid to be sure, but utterly devoid of any meaningful thoughts about the logistics of all that.

That being said, gruppenführer Åkesson and his entourage of skinheads in suits would love to bring in the army to crack some (brown) heads. He’s been burping about ”undantagstillstånd” before, but once again: we don’t have any real legal basis for such manoeuvres so all it’d take is one out of 10 million swedes to bring it to a court that would shut it down.

Conveniently absent from any part of the discourse is anything even approaching a long-term societal solution. Instead it’s all about harsher punishments and more police. “Big stronk government” Kristersson sings, while shooting the last remaining husk of Socialtjänsten into the Sun.

of course not, they just won an election basically one news cycle ago and that makes you more popular. this sort of affair grinds along over time with a steady drip of bad headlines which are going to seriously hurt solberg's personal profile, especially while campaigning. that personal profile has been the core of H's election campaigns for the past decade.

if økokrim decides to follow up on this, this is going to keep coming up. next election, finnes is going to come up as a security risk and very awkward questions have to be asked very publicly. the conversation shifts from "look how competent Mediocre Mummy Erna is" to "is this woman technically fit to be PM". it's a huge liability.

I mean the last few weeks have been pretty bloody due to an ongoing gang-war (which has been pretty clearly outlined in the press) but since the media and their buddies in politics have the context-reading skills of a banana, they just see “dead body number go up” and assume we’re halfway to a civil war as opposed to living through a conflict between several criminal organisations.

So apparently Kristersson held a Speech to the Nation (a fairly rare occurrence in Sweden) and used it to 1: brag that his government is totally cool and good and 2: blame immigrants. So the import of American media usage is still very much in effect.

Continuing Reinfeldts immigration policies so that a bunch of private and privatized industries can use them to print money/wage dumb with cheap labor, all while not spending enough money/effort on actually integration efforts leads to formation of ghettos and segregated communities, which nobody benefits from, besides those that want cheap labor and criminal gangs (but I repeat myself.)

I'm thinking that maybe spending enough on integration efforts to be proportionate with our immigration numbers would be beneficial to our society in the long run, but nobody in power has any incentive to actuality do any of that.
