This isn't me downplaying it at all, because obviously January 6th shows there is a decent amount of people who are ready to get rid of democracy because they won't get their way. Obviously it goes without saying that conflict and death is horrific and I would prefer to avoid it. AFAICT the dem response to McCarthy being threatened is "lol lmao, I/we don't have time for this" but also ousting McCarthy would take a full house vote so dem support would be needed. I think it needs actual majority support so some chunk of democrats would need to actively vote for it to happen The funniest outcome, I believe, is that he gets ousted on the 15th vote after 14 unsuccessful ones.
