Well if you read by weekly schedule posts in the Puro thread you'd have known that :colbert:

I haven't seen it but some thoughts on the Five Star Final: YAS! I've been a big Suzu fan since first seeing her in Ice Ribbon as ICEŚ∞ champ in the match she won it in their final show at Yokohama Bunka, followed by her having the hardcore match trial series against Rina Yamashita & then a bunch of blokes with more scars on their bodies than skin without big keloids, followed by leaving & the whole Prominence thing where she's actually getting to do deathmatches. I was very sceptical about going to Stardom full-time, not because she's not good enough, she clearly is, some of the matches in that Ice Ribbon title run were great, like when she beat Maya Yukihi for it, some of the matches she had in WAVE last year, sad I couldn't convince more AEW viewers to see her match with Hikaru Shida for the Regina Di WAVE Title. And then the hardcore & deathmatches. That Ice Ribbon hardcore match with Masashi Takeda was just a brutal beatdown that made you feel a bit uncomfortable watch it until you remember she's in this match because she wants it. She's talked before about wanting to have deathmatch scarring to show off with her wedding dress, which is a bit mad but bless her, it's not what you normally except to hear out of someone fresh out of her teens. Last year I had her as my #2 wrestler of the year, the match she had with Toru Sugiura made my Top 10 Matches of the Year.

What I'm saying is Suzu is great, but so far in Stardom hasn't really had many chances to do much on a par with her stuff over the last 3 or 4 years so I'm excited that this means more big Suzu singles matches

Really enjoyed the 5 star finals. Saori/Mina, Maika/MIRAI and the Finals match stood out. Would have preferred the loser of the finals to in fact be the winner of the finals, but excited to see what happens these next couple of months before Sumo Hall.

I guess Saya will be back in time for 12/29 if Suzu is taking her shot early. Hoping for Maika/MIRAI rematch on 12/29.

Thoughts on the 5 star result

Personally I have mixed feelings about it. I like Suzu a lot. I put her in that list of prodigious wrestlers who I think a company like Stardom could be built around in the future. But people are wildly inflating how good she is right now. She isn't appreciably better than the people around her in Stardom. Maika, just as a recent example, was quite a bit better than her in the final match, i thought, and basically held the whole thing together. I can see why there are quite a few people on Twitter annoyed by the result, especially Maika fans. She was probably the best wrestler of the whole tournament, the crowd was clearly on her side, and her losing in this situation almost comes across like a message that she's reached her limit. It's not the end of the world, Suzu is still a good choice, and it's cool that they are getting right behind someone new, but it wasn't the ideal result imo. I'd like to think MIRAI will defend her title a couple more times against Mina and Momo, and then Maika might be able to get a run with the white belt starting at Dream Queendom. She's overdue for something better than the artist or tag championship.

What's a decent time to wait on spoilers on this? Because I want to respond but massive blocks of black spoilers aren't something I tend towards. Looks unpleasant.

I'll just say that it's worth remembering that it's almost certain that Tall Saya was going to win it all before the injury.

The winner taking their shot at Osaka tells me that rossy just didn't want to change his booking and utami or saya will be wrestling at ryogoku.

Which I thinks a pretty good compromise

It's not that kind of test.
I had a bunch of family poo poo today but I finally finished the Five Star finals and most of the matches were great, with Maika/MIRAI and the finals being my faves. I'm happy with the winner but I think I'd have been happier if the other competitor had won. Hell of a finish though!

I'd have had Mina and Syuri go over to maintain some more intrigue but I get why they didn't.

Great tourney overall, shame about the body count.

Oh, and Tam/Poi was great too. One of the best Germans I've ever seen!

And yeah I think based on the semi finals that Maika and MIRAI will be run back in the future.

There was a Crush Gals 40th Anniversary Show on Sunday at the Yokohama Budokan. The official number has it outdrawing the 5 Star GP Finals, which if true would make it the biggest wrestling event ever at the venue.

The mainevent is really good imo. Another good showing from hanan. Slk worked insanely hard considering she's injured (the roster is legitimately crazy. There was no need for her to work that hard). Miyu amasaki looked about as good as I've seen her.

I'm not surprised. A lot of the roster are Dragongate fangirls, and DG regularly has mystery people under masks, usually as either Metal Warriors, Dr. Muscle, or some variation of Strong Machines.

For the Twitter-averse, it's a Natsupoi status update. The cervical herniation is not from a specific injury but gradual wear and tear. She has numbness and tingling in her hands and stiffness in her neck. She wanted to work through it but saw footage of her signature German suplex and thought it looked way worse than it used to. Her stablemates encouraged her to take time off. She's hoping to be back before the end of the year but will likely miss all of October. Not going to get surgery, just taking time to recover and doing some PT.

That was a nice little tournament. No bad matches. No MOTY-candidates, but Emi vs. Trish Adora, Bille Starkz vs Rachel Armstrong, the semifinal with the winners of those two matches and the final were good.

Natsupoi is one of my top wrestlers for 2023 so I'd love to see her back soon, but I hope her treatment helps and that she doesn't rush back. Depending on the severity of the herniation there's a good chance she'll need surgery down the line anyway.

Have they mentioned what will happen with the tag titles?
