Eh, misdemeanor charges can result, and I think there can be fines/fees even for the organization for a false pull. Over a decade ago I was working at an indoor soccer facility, and someone on one team pulled the alarm after a particularly rough game. They refused to identify who did it - we knew which team, just not which individual. My recollection is that the GM wound up threatening to suspend the whole team if they didn't either identify the individual who pulled it, or collectively came up with the ~$500 fee the FD was going to charge the facility. I think they showed up with $500 a couple days later.

Can't wait for next week's 15 rounds of trying to elect a Speaker again. Crossing my fingers that McCarthy continues his headstrong push to pry up and sell even the things nailed down in order to get his title. How long until we get to Speaker McCarthy in his beautiful office as Assistant Speaker Jeffries runs the House? Chemtrailologist posted:Doesn't Bowman know that this is what interns are for? A real leader would have had an intern at one of his New York offices call in a bomb threat from Trump Tower instead of pulling the alarm himself.

McCarthy says he wants to refer it to the Ethics Committee. One of the ultra-MAGA reps is introducing a resolution to expel, but I can't imagine that gets anywhere. Several other far-right representatives are calling him an insurrectionist and demanding that he be prosecuted, but that's pretty obviously just political posturing.

Some rear end in a top hat upstream from you decides to build a dam on his property that funnels all the water into his garden, onto his private chipping green and straight down into his private well where he then filters it and bottles the rest to sell to people in the subdivision? Then all of a sudden we need some restrictions on water usage and something must be done about sharing. Or, I guess the logical solution in their minds is for someone to just buy another property even further upstream until one person owns the highest property? That, and they'd have to come up with some socialist solution to garbage collection because, in Libertopia, no one wants to pick up trash. Further, let's say we privatize the fire department and no one will put out a fire on your property without swiping your credit card first. Gee, I can't picture a scenario where the person who makes money running the LFD would ever just go around starting fires and charging people to put them out! I'm all for individual freedom, but some things are just simply a collective responsibility and a societal need that can't be handled by capitalism and a profit motive. Many things, in fact. But, to these types, nothing is worth doing unless it makes money. See: the disdain for and contempt of the USPS.

The GOP would fully consume itself trying to figure it out, I don't think they have anyone who can get the votes. Comedy option: A few of the moderate Republicans switch their party allegiance, giving the Dems a narrow majority and vote Jeffries in as Speaker, just to keep the House functional.
