I'm trying to remember the name of a game I played a while ago on Steam. Is there any sort of history tab? The library suggests recently played games but it doesn't go back very far - and my profile shows my "activity" but looks like that's only a couple of weeks worth of information.

I also tried to see if the game showed up in my achievements - but as far as I can tell, there isn't any way to view achievements?

Help!

at the bottom of your recent games on your profile hit all recently played, then go to the all games tab at the top of that page. this should have everything in your account sorted by playtime.

"Pavel, you wear the 'A' on your jersey. What does that mean to you?"
"A lot. So much that I put an 'A' on all my clothes. I wear an 'A' everywhere."
At the top of your library there should be a little clock button that sorts by recent activity. sorts by month for this year and then yearly before then.

My recently played games tab goes back a decade. Do you maybe have "only installed games" selected?

I played 15 hours and was done didnt bother finishing the true ending grind. There's something not really fun/addictive to me about the combat and there are so many trap items its crazy (an expensive item named grenade bullets actually completely sucks and you cant remove it once equipped). Art and sound are amazing and the normal difficulty is very reasonable/approachable.

Big update recently with elemental reactions (genshin???) that i havent tried so cant comment on it.

Recently I've been having an issue where Steam quietly exits in the background and refuses to relaunch without a reboot. This is on Win10. Doesn't seem likely to be a hardware issue to me but I have a Ryzen 5600x with 32 GB RAM and a 2 TB NVMe SSD. I typically sleep my computer overnight rather than rebooting because I am a degenerate who doesn't want to reload 5000 browser tabs.

Attempting to launch Steam pops up this window for a fraction of a second:

I get processes running in Task Manager:

But no Steam window and no Systray icon. After a while (a day or two) I may be able to run it again successfully. I can consistently fix it by rebooting but I'd really rather not reboot every time I want to run a drat game.

Anyway, I'm having trouble finding decent support for this issue because everything is overwhelmed by individual games not running. I do not have a ClientRegistry.blob file that I can find. I have reinstalled Steam to no result. Any ideas for what to try next?

I would recommend restarting your computer and see if the problem continues.

Rebooting fixes it for one instance, then it just recurs. I.e. Steam will launch after a reboot, then a bit later kill itself off-screen and stay dead until the next reboot/mysterious passage of time. That's been the pattern for at least a few weeks now.

Have you tried un/reinstalling?

If you really do have 5000 or however many browser tabs and the new Steam UI has a memory leak, which seems like a decent bet even if it's a relatively small one, you're probably just eventually running out.

Reinstalled Steam, no visible effect. Had to reboot my PC to get the fresh install to launch the first time.

Hyperbole on my part. Doesn't seem like a RAM capacity issue since I'm not seeing my RAM use spike or even really appreciably climb over uptime, except insofar as I end up running more programs at once.

What's really loving me up is that Steam appears by all indications to be running when I launch it but, like, I can't interact with it in any way.

Yeah, I've gotten the good old IT runaround too many times to start there but it's looking like that may be the next move. ty for suggestions

Tabs are like Steam games. The goal is to buy/open as many as possible, not to play/close them

Both Firefox and Chrome have a Setting to restore your previous session, so all your precious tabs will automatically be re-opened.

Although if you have N browser windows open with X tabs each, I don't think there's way to restore multiple windows worth of tabs.

At least with Chrome, if you go to the menu and hit Exit instead of clicking the X on one of the windows, then all of the windows will close together and then be restored when you re-open it.

Restore previous session is great.

What’s even better is that it fucks up if I open a second instance of Firefox for whatever reason. It’s kinda refreshing to just accept that the tabs are gone after I do that.

I bought it for like $5 on Epic and it installs through Epic but opens up Origin on launch. I wager Steam will do the same.

In chrome at least if you go to history or maybe it's recent tabs it will show you entire windows. Handy for when I accidentally lose a window full of tabs.

As for bookmarks. I don't know what it is but anything I bookmark I never go back to. Of course, I never go back to these open tabs either. I still hate closing them though leave me alone

to those of you who don't know steamworld: it's a game franchise where each game is a different genre, and while they might not be the best games ever, they execute those genres competently and they're all good to great.

Steamworld Dig 1+2 are metroidvanias
Steamworld Heist is 2D XCOM where you can aim your own shots and use ricochet for silly trick shots
Steamworld Quest is Slay the Spire but for beginners

and now Steamworld Build looks like maybe it's Anno? Not sure yet, but I'm expecting it to be solid and worth a look.

Also every character is robots and it's awesome
