GOTY Brute-Brainer Mk III Latrine Shovel Removed no damage beyond 3 targets on light/heavy. Increased heavy power and damage vs Maniacs. Changed so weak spots have sweep hit priority.

The enemy spawning and behavior changes have me the most excited; anything that changes up the minute-to-minute gameplay and encourages players to change up their tactics is vital. Also heck yeah Devil's Claw knives had their parry boosted

Eviscerator is so loving back, goddamn. I love all these balance changes, especially the weapons getting damage caps removed. Blessing changes look really good too.

I've read through all the patch notes and holy poo poo so many buffs to underused weapons it's kinda unreal. Very excited to get home and play. Of note however, are that the worst offenders of blessings that are so good they overshadow everything else, a big ol' fat to Pinning Fire, Slaughterer and Brutal Momentum. They absolutely deserved the nerfs they got.

I think it's not hard to see why the game got review bombed if you've forgotten what the release state of the game was like.
Game had issues, yo, ain't no sugarcoating it, it's gotten better but remember where it came from. Ra Ra Rasputin fucked around with this message at 18:46 on Oct 3, 2023 |

Ten Cent became a majority owner of Fat Shark, it was brutally obvious on release that the game was heavily influenced by that. It was so easy to go back to VT2 after the release of Darktide. It's amazing that anything good came out of Ten Cents 'tide game. We're watching a dev studio desperately try to remake a good 'tide game that already exists

I love VT2. Darktide is a different game that's just as enjoyable. Looking forward to VT3 with the new engine updates.

Senethro posted:There was a certain genre of Steam review really mad about how these Swedish developers were taking their legal 5 weeks of vacation while their game was broken. Their five week vacation was only part of it, considering patch 1 that introduced the cash shop was like the second week of November, and after the 5 week vacation they have the excuse of training a new community manager for another 2-3 weeks. It was a communication deadzone for nearly 3 months before they acknowledged how hosed the state of the game was. Edit: also LOL that the newest cash shop set prices are going up to 2900 aquillas. I'm not going to argue that Fatshark 'd the hell out of the initial launch and absolutely deserves flak for that on some level. It was the consistency of patches and communication after all that that ended up getting my goodwill back. also fwiw, the new bundles are apparently supposed to be high effort cosmetic bundles that go above and beyond the current bundles and they're adding a new Aquila bundle that matches the pricing on them so there's no wastage. Whether or not the bundles are worth the price increase remains to be seen this Thursday.

A free +100% power for just hitting things? Haha okay yeah sure. The nerf is very much deserved, and I say this as someone who invested a significant amount of time getting PF4 on Autopistol and Bolter. It's still a bummer, and still BiS for the weapons it is on most likely but not nearly as overpowering from a balance perspective. A lot of other things got buffed though, including Gets Hot! which gives up to 50% crit chance now to Plasma.

I joined a maelstrom game with a couple people down and saved the day with the big Ogryn grenade. The Gunner Ogryn skill tree synergises well with my heavy stubber that has charmed reload and toughness regen on sustained fire. I'm basically invinvible while firing, and I can keep firing for a looong time. When you return to the Morning Star after a mission you spawn next to the mission board now instead of the normal spawn point.

After a couple of rounds as psyker I quite like the skills. I've only tried a smite build so far, and it's good fun. The damage is very mediocre, but it's absolutely insane CC on very short notice. It also makes gun psyker a lot more feasible. Curious to see how assail is gonna play. But it also seems like they had a little mixup with the psyker keystone skills. The central one that gives you a buff to your blitz attacks actually gives a 100% perils reduction to smite, even though it claims only a damage/range buff. In practice this means that when you have the buff, you can literally keep up channeling smite forever, preferably while cackling "UNLIMITED POWER" https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme...7c00f36747ba0c&

Games cool and the updates good but leaning into character customisation and then having the variety of free cosmetics be so paltry sucked, and the range is still too limited at this point, especially with no way to even grind the premium currency.

The ranged dome for psyker + warp charges to reduce it's cooldown means you basically have unlimited uptime of the shield which can also regenerate toughness inside it, it's prettttty strong at keeping your entire team alive. Kinda just solves the whole "stray gunners destroy me" problem I had as psyker.

Everything seems functional and well implemented. Low hurdle, but an important one for fatshark. Everything I tried felt great. Even the regular weapons. So..... Is it a stupid and petty complaint if I said I felt theres a little bit of power creep going on? Like you can almost stroll through the maps completely substituting abilities for the ol' Dodge'n'Shove and I think somethings maybe lost for that?
|
# ? Oct 3, 2023 21:11 |

Def some power creep, but day 1 I'm still seeing people splitting up and dying to the usual things or force knives flying into daemonhosts or 100 gunners overwhelming the psyker shields. It's also possible the psyker dome has some cooldown bug going on like each warp charge is 75% reduction instead of 7.5% because I can back-to-back the domes. Also in case anyone missed this in the patch notes:quote:Adjusted most enemy health pools, hit mass values, and stagger thresholds to be a bit higher overall, with higher increase on Monstrosities, with the goal to match the overall increase in power output from players. Expect a 20% increase in player power and a 20% increase in difficulty.

Trip Report: Gun lugger fun, Bullgryn still good. The one annoyance is that there really isn't a clean way for Gun Lugger to get the rock grenade. The nuke is fun, but I want to throw bricks, yo. The ranged ability plus the fire damage trait just burns the gently caress out of all comers. Bullgryn is better than ever and you have a ton of damage and control, it's just hard to use it because everyone is using coked out ranged builds and all the scary melee guys explode before they get to you. Big clumps of machine gunners are still your bane. It seems like ammo is going to start really being a problem now considering veterans aren't guaranteed to have the gunfood aura.

One cool change for controller people is that opening boxes or taking ammo doesn't reload anymore. On the controller, they're on the same button so it would reload if you had your gun out while opening a box or something. Very annoying with a plasma gun or stubber or something.

Okay, it's official and I am happy to announce: The Rumbler is actually good now. Chain stagger monsters, adhesive charge working on ogryn means it goes through bulwark shields and kills them real good. I stan the rumbler now. Really needs ammo being fed to it or a Vet keeping the ammo regen aura tho.

I have yet to win a game with rando's on high intensity damnation, everyone is still figuring things out and the patch notes are so long I doubt anyone playing has read them or absorbed them much, still a lot of nerfed weapons being used and buffed weapons tested to see if they are worth using.
