damn i'm really in this bitch

the last time bienemy had serious heat around him as a head coaching candidate, him (allegedly) choking a female parking attendant and being around during the colorado rape scandal were brought up a lot on twitter

i don't doubt that those things wouldn't have prevented a team from hiring bienemy if they really wanted to, but it does provide convenient cover to pass him over if there's a less good (read: racist) reason to not hire him

High on the Lions.

Matt Patricia is a rapist, and unfortunately it came out AFTER the Lions hired him.

And then he was hired by New England AND Philly.

I've made a huge mistake.
I'd never heard Bienemy speak until a recent clip of him fawning over Matt Milano popped up in the Buffalo twittersphere. I was going to suggest that his eloquence there certainly didn't fit with the oft suggested "he doesn't interview well", but perhaps it's true; he comes across as too smart to the owners and they fall for brash, egotistical snake oil salesmen.

He can replace Staley and coach the Chargers. He'll be an NFL legend only once he's blown up an entire division throughout his career. After Reid/Mahomes retires he can finish his victory lap "rebuilding" the Chiefs.

There is no one in the world who can make Mac Jones a competent NFL QB..... Other than maybe him playing every game against the Jets.

It's Josh McDaniels, he'll run Herbert out of town on a rail within 3 months. To be replaced by... *checks notes* Marcus Mariota.

If they fire Canada Tomlin should be fine.

If he keeps doubling down on him for another season, then maybe. But even now I think Tomlin is pretty safe

Canada's contract is up at the end of the season, so it's a virtual lock that he will be retained until then, barring another catastrophic offensive performance this week

Kraft, normally loyal, has publicly said multiple times he doesn't give a poo poo about that record since it's more about Bill than the Pats themselves.

He’s not coaching a middling non-playoff team for another 4 years just to get a record. Does Bill Belichick , general manager, plan on upgrading the team as well?

I don't know how bill would take it, but I'm confident that relinquishing GM duty would be the first step before firing.

I don't think there's any way he would give up that control. It's why he's with the Patriots to begin with.

Yeah, that's part of why I've thought from the start he's getting fired. There needs to be a different GM; if it gets down to the question of "will you stop being GM?", what other option is there when (not if) he says no?

If Bill really wants the record, and is self-aware enough to recognize that the clock is ticking and the win rate is slowing down, then he could come out with a statement of "I'm over 70, the mind is willing but the flesh is a bit weak, I'll coach til I die but will bring on an AGM who'll take on more responsibility over time" or something.

Media will run with it regardless of what we know is actually going on, and history would laud him for taking that track instead of bitterly hanging on to both gigs while the team spiraled.

Obv everything above is hypothetically possible but realistically improbable. Ah well.

Let's pretend that happened. Whomever they bring in will just be Bill's bitch. The fundamental problem is that he still thinks talent doesn't matter as much as being a good role player.

Mike Tanier who gets posted around here sometimes said what you’ve been saying ITT yesterday: if they hire someone from a respected forward thinking organization with like a good stamp of approval and make him President reporting directly to Kraft, it solves this problem and probably forces Bill to start thinking about an exit
