what gets me is still feeling shocked/outrage by the snuff porn they push out to elicit these evocative responses. I think the last time I was truly shocked by this sort of shock imagery was way back in late bush/obama when I saw an image of a what looked to be a meat giblet surrounded by a pool of red water+blood in gaza where presumably somebody was blown to freaking smithereens looney toons style. 𝐀𝐓𝐎𝐌𝐈𝐂 𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐑𝐘 posted:

So, it happened.

For several years now, I have been expecting some interesting operation in the Israeli direction performed by pro–Iranian forces, and it happened - with very impressive results.

Either way, in order.

Already you can observe a lot of "far–reaching" conclusions that, as a result of what happened in Israel, we will see a new chapter of modern war and so on, so on - these deep conclusions are made on the basis of several videos using civilian UAVs, motorcycle raids by Palestinians and etc. Such conclusions, to put it mildly, can hardly be called somewhat correct – they lose sight of the full picture of what is happening, if not to say that they ignore it altogether.

It's worth starting with the fact that the Palestinian units are not a bunch of funny guys from the street who run around with Chinese AK, gaining the upper hand over the regular army at the expense of AliExpress copters and religious fundamentalism. Behind the people on the staff is a huge array of work by qualified and ingenious military specialists from Iran, who have spent more than one year collecting and analyzing intelligence, developing plans, preparing military assets and many other aspects that have made what is happening a reality. You see only the part of the picture that you are allowed to see – and you are deeply mistaken about the real state of affairs.

You look at the militia, but you don't see the groups of Iranian commandos who operate under cover, which made it possible to capture the general of the Israeli special forces. You look at the drone drops, but you don't see the launch of thousands of missiles that scattered the attention of the IDF command. You see paragliders, but you do not notice the Iranian aerial and radio intelligence, which helps to direct the Palestinian detachments to the most vulnerable areas of defense of the Israeli security forces.

Do not be mistaken, thinking that modern technologies are capable of radically changing the capabilities of irregular forces. This becomes real only in the case of a radical change in their organizational approaches and strategy – this is exactly what we are seeing on the example of what is happening today.

It is not drones with grenades that are worthy of admiration here, but Iranian planners – they organized a magnificent raid by the forces of an insurgent organization on the territory of one of the most militarized countries in the world, competently using surprise, speed and panic as a cover for their actions. The Palestinian detachments have been in close contact with the Israeli security forces for many hours, preventing the IDF from realizing its complete superiority in firepower, and the capture of numerous hostages paralyzes the Israeli Air Force, which cannot strike at Gaza in full force.

The meaning of this raid is extremely simple – and it is by no means "terrorism", as the defenders of the noble gentlemen from Tel Aviv say, who have been entertaining themselves by throwing hand grenades and aerial bombs in residential buildings for decades (and also proudly telling about operations on the territory of other countries, including with civilian victims - but that, of course, is different). This is just a great way to get a huge array of intelligence about Israeli response protocols, the speed of mobilization, the real readiness of the army and intelligence agencies. And, of course, one should not think that General Nimrod Aloni, who was shown to the public, was the only valuable prisoner for today – Ashkelon and Sderot are rather big cities, and many personalities interesting to Iranian intelligence (and not only, perhaps, Iranian) live in them.

Make no mistake – the Palestinians have no chance of winning. But the lesson of this day is that with high-quality organization, planning and analysis, even Hamas can become a formidable weapon and deliver a powerful blow to a technologically and quantitatively superior enemy.

𝐀𝐓𝐎𝐌𝐈𝐂 𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐑𝐘 posted:

So, today we can sum up some results of the first day of the raid on the territory of Israel.

We are interested in two groups of events, for which, in fact, the breakthrough of the Israeli border was organized:

1) Numerous liquidations of senior command staff and specialists from the Israel Defense Forces;
2) Capture or infiltration of Israeli command posts.

At the moment, data are circulating in the media about the death of 2 generals (Hamas also claims the capture of 4), 5 colonels, a lieutenant colonel and a major of the AOI. It is noteworthy, firstly, that the dead are related to the Israeli special operations forces and army intelligence, and secondly, that some of them were liquidated together with their families - this indicates the possible preliminary infiltration of the Iranian cleanup teams, which "worked" on the command staff in the morning of October 7, paralyzing thus, the coordination of defense in the south of Israel (and this probably explains the significant disorganization in the actions of the Israeli police and army).

We also have data received directly from the IDF about the capture of the headquarters of the Gaza division (in fact, in our manner, the headquarters of the operational direction, if we draw rough analogies) and the center of the naval forces, which were held by the "militants" for many hours. In addition, a number of smaller, but important objects such as advanced intelligence posts were captured.

As the reader understands, I hope, the capture of such important objects in the shortest possible time is simply impossible by the forces of irregular formations, which you could observe on most of yesterday's video materials provided by Hamas. Similarly, it is not by some unfortunate accident that every few hours a new name of the liquidated senior IDF officer appears, the number of which has already mysteriously exceeded the number of dead Israeli sergeants and lieutenants (and, obviously, this is happening as a response to the killings of Iranian officers from various structures organized over the past year by Israeli intelligence).

If we put aside the moral and ethical aspects of what is happening and look at the events of the past day from the point of view of the professional confrontation between the Iranian and Israeli law enforcement agencies, then Iran has demonstrated the highest level of competence. Even the footage of hostage–taking, which is unpleasant for most of you, actually represents sound military cynicism - a large number of prisoners on the territory of Gaza seriously constrain the AOI command in actions. In fact, the Iranians are provoking the IDF to a large–scale ground operation in the Gaza Strip without proper air and artillery support (it is also noteworthy that some of the hostages are tourists from Western countries, for the capture of which Hamas used part of its paragliding forces; in short, it was a pre-prepared action that increases the overall value of the hostage fund).

Why is it even important? In conditions of dense urban development, Israeli firepower will be largely leveled, and the IDF will have to operate on enemy territory with infrastructure prepared for that (underground communications, supply depots, barracks, observation posts). Israel has already had an unpleasant experience of "not winning" in such conditions during the invasion of Lebanon in 2006, and it will be no less interesting to watch what is happening now.

PS: by the way, why is @yigal_levin so sad the last two days? Where are his trademark fiery jokes about the "colonel's fall"? So many AOI officers "fell" after all, isn't it funny?

As far as I know, we have basically 0 evidence they have succeeded in any significant military context, outside of catching the IDF with their pants literally down at one installation. It's only been one day, they are wildly outmatched in tech, they almost certainly aren't trained with any equipment they captured. I can't say I know what Hamas is specifically hoping to achieve, but they probably have very bad odds of holding territory for long, and I'm not convinced they DO have strong strategic leadership
