Keanu's voice over work is really rough at the start, but he gets better. Also sounds better during more dramatic moments when he has to ham it up a bit.

This is a pretty common thing with cyberpunk, the point being that despite the neon and smiling ads there's no hope and no improvement, just capitalism sucking the life out of everything and collapsing because no one with any power has any interest in making a functional society or anything other than number go up Night City being a particularly lovely place seems kinda the point too in being a place where video game violence takes place

^^^ the opportunities exist in Night City for those who seek them out. Do a few gigs, and you can afford a top-class apartment in the expensive part of town. If you're poor in Night City, it's because you're lazy. Other people are pinatas of cash, and you have no one to blame but for yourself if you ignore that. started playing Everspace 2. it seems like a pretty fun rootin' tootin' lootin' schlooter game in space? i dunno how much meat is on the bone but at least having fun in the honeymoon period. hopefully i get to actually build cool giant rear end cap ships (but probably not)

The only looter shooter type games to ever grab me are the Remnant ones because the loot is never RNG drops and you can upgrade all your guns Souls style so there's never the problem of "well this gun is actually fun to use but that generic assault rifle has Larger Number so I have to use the boring gun" (It does have the problem of "oh no I put all my upgrade materials in this gun, but just got a new toy that I want to use" but you can at least grind upgrade materials just by exploring)

The enemy and boss designs are cool and unique, the story is weird and interesting though awkwardly localised, and weapon assembly is the the absolute raddest poo poo and completely unique to it.

I can barely land perfect blocks but i might be dumb enough to brute force my way through it also the p-core that regains HP on perfect guard is really good because it means you dont have to perfect block everything, just reg block em all then perfect the last one in a combo and you'll get topped back to full. a good brute force method is just to regular block everything with high guard stats and lots of guard recovery skills and just pop yourself back up to full with a hit or two. also try dodging more and don't worry about parry, it's actually very good and has very generous i-frames. there's an amulet that lets you dodge through red fury attacks which means you just play it as bloodborne. the game actually gives you like 4 major defensive skills: dodge, guard, parry, and run away. you can use like just 2 or 3 of those at your leisure. i would say my parry success rate was probably 33% overall for regular attacks, and like 5% for fury attacks, and i still beat the game. i could not parry red attacks to save my life at all, the windup was always too long and always got me good, so I decided just to run away or try to avoid getting hit by them instead. Lies lore question, from Simon you get Arm of God item that seems like it matches up with pinnochio having a robot leftarm. is there any relationship there, like was that the real Carlo's arm? since it was stolen from gepetto it would seem.. maybe? also what was the point in kidnapping Geppetto?

beat Signalis again. wonderful game, I absolutely adore the artistry on display with the environments and character designs, and I love that every character and story element can be interpreted in wildly different ways from what I've read in discussions here. however the devs (both west germans, to my understanding of things) appear to hate the GDR of all things, which is very confusing. from what I understand as a dipshit American, the worst the GDR did was have the Stasi harass you if you pissed off the state in some way, which is really quaint compared to the poo poo the FBI and CIA got up to in a "free" country.
