i worked for a news agency whose internal reporting showed twitter accounted for less than 1% of their audience engagement, even before musk there is no excuse for any news org to still be on that hellsite. might as well be on tumblr or second life or whatever

It's also cheaper for the newspapers to support their journalist by giving stuff to post on their social gathering place than by giving them a salary raise. Twitter was always the place where journalists circle-jerked about having the biggest, now they need a new site.
