Although I had to laugh when they asked the guy if any political operative had hired them to poo poo on Trudeau and spout right wing talking points, and he was like "uh no I don't think so. We just want clicks!" and they seemed satisfied with that. Are there any decent Canadian current affairs podcasts I should check out?

The Alberta Advantage is a good socialist Canadian podcast. It's also cool because it covers western Canada which I know nothing about as a jerkoff Torontonian. A bit dry sometimes though

I don't want to ascribe too much to the Conservative politician who wrote that piece, I just thought it was notable because it ran in the NP. When you're a Conservative premier who's lost the support of the NP editors, you don't have a lot of friends left.
