My neighbors an Indian Scottish fella who invited me over to watch it for the very first time in my life. He’s got a projector and apparently is going to stream so I’ll ask sometime tomorrow. He said Sunday I believe.

Shoot it’s that boring? He’s so amped for it I figured the World Cup would bring excitement

It's not quite so much the boredom but the length of a full 50 overs match can be like 8-9 hours.

If it's for the India - Pakistan match it's gonna have a crowd of like 150,000 people though, and is gonna be a ridiculous spectacle.

My ex-girlfriend is Indian and we went to visit her parents in the middle east once. Her and her mom went out, and left me with her dad, who was a huge cricket dude. He handed me a beer, and turned on a cricket match, we watched intently, with brief interludes of him explaining the game. Felt oddly at home while doing it.

Cricket is like baseball, best enjoyed with copious amounts of alcohol. An India and Pakistan match might be pretty awkward in that regard.

I think it starts at like 5 AM EST, so you're probably rolling in for the 2nd half at least.

I have a very long rant about how baseball is opposite to football, but I'll only highlight a couple of points. There are 17 games in a football season, there are 162 games in a baseball season. Each baseball game matters less than every football game. Because there are so few football games, playoffs aren't decided until later in the season. In baseball you have a pretty good idea of who is going to be competitive and who is just not going to have a good year by around July. This leads to some fairly terrible baseball games that get played because they are on the schedule. I don't want to disparage the AL central too harshly, but just take a look at my Red Sox games in July / August / September. Those games were formalities, the outcome didn't matter at all.

That being said, live baseball is kind of like a picnic / outdoor party. It doesn't matter who is winning, things are just happening and sometimes you get to see something cool. Baseball on TV is far less compelling, I agree there.

Yeah, depending on where they are from, religious customs and etc. It could be a full on rager, or they might not mind if you have a beer.

Douglas Adams’s description of not-cricket always stuck with me even though I haven’t read Hitchhikers since I was, like, fourteen:

Adams posted:

Rule Three: Put your team and the opposing team in a large field and build a high wall round them.
The reason for this is that, though the game is a major spectator sport, the frustration experienced by the audience at not actually being able to see what's going on leads them to imagine that it's a lot more exciting than it actually is. A crowd that has just watched a rather humdrum game experiences far less life-affirmation than a crowd that believes it has just missed the most dramatic event in sporting history.

I took the octopath less travelered,

And it made one-eighth the difference.
Tannehill was rear end, then he got injured. Then Malik came in and he clearly cannot process at NFL speed.

Oh well, watching Malik and Levis embarrass themselves will be better than Tannehill slowly draining the life from our offense. And Henry and Spears still own.

Malik's gonna cost so many opponents tons of cash in defensive incentives, brilliant move by Vrabel to weaken his competition for next year.

I don't think I have seen a series of 3 dumber plays in a row by a QB in my life. Get out of bounds, don't take sacks should be ingrained in a Qb's head by the time he is in college let alone his 2ND PRO SEASON??? It's their own fault for just not giving Henry the ball on 1st & goal on the 1

Obviously, he's a defensive coach. I think Carmichael might be your bigger issue if you want to blame the offense.

Get rekt'd. :colbert:

Defensed played very well but 49ers offense was loving terrible. Purdy was just off all day and Kyle playcalling in the late 4th was loving terrible. 3 Minutes and you throw a pass every drive even though Purdy has been not connecting all day.

Also I will repeat.

NEVER

WIN BY AN FG. You had like 40 loving seconds to get the redzone TD and one timeout you dipshit.
