Wheein album is 5/5. Her track with Hwasa is a big standout. Sounds like Eunbi’s solo stuff a lot. Bite Me too.

love the MV but think I prefer Off the Record to this, not that either is up to the level of... I was gonna pick out my favourite but like pretty much every one of their other main tracks is insanely good. so not up to that level.

IVE's first miss imo. It does the Le Sserafim thing of being fine from start to finish but with nothing to actually punch its way out over the top, like it was the first draft and they just pushed it out early. IVE gets some flack for their stuff being kind of straightforwardly done but I think they absolutely excel at that niche.

the video is fun though

Same, banger albums.

I wasn't hot on Baddie at first, but it's worming its way into my brain the more I listen to it. Think I still prefer Off The Record, love the vibe.

That TXT track is designed to exploit my weakness for that kinda synthpop. I think the chorus doesn't live up to all its potential, but I love the song on the whole. Also I hate saying this because I think she did a great job featuring on it, but the version of Back For More without Anitta is even better, Yeonjun's new part is killer.

This is sort of hilarious. I don't think it'll be regular listening for me but the frantic energy of the video matched up great with the instrumentation, which stands out nicely from the current more smooth/minimal trend going on.

The initial trio were great but below the peaks of their usual title tracks, but after listening through the whole album I love it. The entire thing has an immensely silly vibe and I'm glad they're mixing it up even if they're not insanely good like I AM, After Like, or Wave. I didn't like Wave much at first but after I stopped caring that it was repetitive and went along with the relentless trance/chant feel I gave in and love it now. They have so many good tracks that it's too bad there won't be more attention to some of the b-side killers like Mine, Classic, My Satisfaction, Heroine, and a bunch of others.

e: I think it's that most of the songs on the album feel not quite complete and are pretty short, even for Ive, but together they almost make a composite great song. Off the Record and Payback are my faves though.

I worry that even though all of this is proved by the diagnosis images and horrifying, there still isn't going to be a good outcome for them any time soon.

My Satisfaction is amazing, one of my favorite kpop b-sides ever. The bit with Yujin and Liz at the end is just stupidly powerful and really plays to their vocal strengths.

Saw Nmixx, The Boyz & Infinite together at Wild Kpop Fest in Sydney. Was pretty fun but what a bizarrely run event.

VVIP ticket holders apparently got a “photo with the group” (the same thing they did during the show, artists on stage and fans in crowd) and “hi wave” (artists waving at fans from stage).

Each group only did 5-6 songs, they also spent 15 minutes of each group’s hour doing a raffle for albums/Polaroids where the same girl won 3 times, people next to each other kept winning and then half the time empty seats won.

Was probably 3-4k people in a 12k or whatever arena, there were major ticketing blunders where they charged really high prices in the presale and then went lower for the main sale, so then had to upgrade presale buyers for free (though I was already floor so I didn’t get an upgrade).

Still a fun night & Lily got to perform in Aus for the first time, she had like 20-30 family and friends there in pink bibs all making themselves known which was super cute… though it sure seemed like Nmixx lip synced which I was disappointed with given how good their vocals are.

Similarly, the Immortal Songs event that was supposed to happen at MetLife Stadium got moved to a much smaller venue after poor ticket sales because of outrageous prices to see artists cover songs. Now Newjeans has pulled out of the lineup and the whole thing is probably going to be cancelled.

Outside of Kcon, which has a lot of issues itself, no one has figured out the inherent problems with a kcon festival in the west: fans don’t want to pay super expensive prices to see 2-3 songs from their favorite artist when they could spend the same for VIP at the actual artists tour. Also artists make way less from that kind of performance than a solo show, so there isn’t much incentive for bigger names to participate either. London just had one cancelled a month or so ago, LA Kamp last year had a bunch of artists miss because they screwed up visa stuff, the list goes on and on.

i feel that in NA my money is much better spent on three $60 tickets for small venue shows like pixy/purple kiss/etc than $200 and a plane ticket for twice or w/e in a stadium. I know it's less of a money maker but it's so much more fun
That being said, i wish they'd run the lightstick tech at the small shows. that stuff is cool just from a nerd perspective

had a fun realization when it hit me that they're now older than 90% of the active kpop scene. It was almost whiplash seeing them in person after only having seen videos of their older concerts where they were much younger and literal children vs now

also, despite that picture of the barricade, the audience was really diverse in the broader crowd! I'd say more non-males than most metal shows by a good margin, as well as other non-gender diversity being well represented. It was pretty funny talking to folks that came for Dethklok not knowing Babymetal and vice-versa, with each group being completely baffled by the other.
